new obsession

Or maybe it’s the old obsession kicking back in, but all I want to do is spin and knit this.

75% natural-colored Coopworth/Romney cross, 15% BFL and 10% tussah silk from Maple Row Stock and Wool.  Drafts like butter, is soft as all get out, and I’ve already swatched and cast on for my next sweater.  [...]

just doing my part

We all have to support the economy, you know.  And what better way to support the economy than by supporting small, independent fiber artists?

Top to bottom, left to right:
1. 500 grams of dyed Polwarth in the Frost Flowers colorway from Rovings (I regretted not buying this at SOAR and couldn’t pass up the opportunity when [...]

January Spin-In

We’re back from the Destin January Spin-In and it was great fun!
The theme for this year was Over the Top.  One of my roomies, Diana, made this hat:

The bluebird of happiness is a combination of knit, crochet and felted fibers.

It was very creative and life-like!

Cindy was a hoot.  She made this hat from her very [...]

what a great day!

Why am I so happy today?  Here’s a little list:
1.  We went to Indiana to visit my family over the long weekend.  Yesterday I woke up to this.  I made my family go for a walk in the snow, nevermind that it was 16 degrees with 0 degree windchill.  It was cold.  It was clear.  [...]

I really am a Rita

So, we’re driving down 280 and the morning sun is KILLER, I can hardly see the car in front of me. I think that it’s because my windshield is dirty, so I hit the wiper spray and it doesn’t get any better. I keep hitting the wiper spray, to the chagrin of the car behind [...]

too connected

These are the books that were on my Christmas list this year.  I started reading at the top and I’m now reading Why We Hate Us, by Dick Meyer.  I’ve been doing a lot of thinking while reading this book and I’ve wanted to talk about my thoughts, but have tried to hold back until [...]

Voyeurism: come take a peek

I’ve been thinking for awhile that I should post about bloggers who inspire me, and this post from Buzzylaines made me get off my tookus and actually do it.  Now, other than the literature that comes in a box of Godiva chocolates or my Phytodefrissant instructions, I can’t read French.  Buzzylaines is a French blog [...]

back to normal

Whatever that is!  Last week took an unexpected turn and I spent three days at the hospital.  Everyone is fine and life is slowly returning to normal.
One good thing about hanging around a hospital is that there is a lot of time for knitting.

I’ve finished the back of my Cassidy cardigan!  The pattern instructs you [...]

January sweater

Friday night I swatched.

I worried for awhile that the cables weren’t popping like they should, so I cast on for one of the fronts  in the smallest size – just to swatch the cables there – and knit two cable repeats.  I liked the way they looked, so I knit on.

This morning I am at [...]

and the winner is…

Heather (seel87)!  Who didn’t link to a blog, so I’m guessing that she’s blog-free!  Heather, I’ve emailed you for your snail mail address!
Thanks to all for commenting!  And thanks for ALL your comments ALL throughout the year – I definitely wouldn’t be doing this if it weren’t for you guys.
Speaking of doing this…I am already [...]
