because mama needs a new printer

and Hannah’s having a contest…
I bring you a day on the river, especially for those of you with snow.

Thanks for the heads-up, Maryse!  I hope everyone has a wonderful (and warm) weekend!

Seam me up, Scotty!

Yes, I hear the collective groan from here!

Here’s an exciting shot of my sweater deep in the seaming process.
Why didn’t anyone tell me that seaming was so much work?  Good lard it’s taking me almost as long to seam this thing as it did to knit it!  Okay, not really, but still.  I’m about three hours [...]

Title? I don’t need no stinkin title!

Which translates to:  I can’t think of one!
The trip home was pleasant and uneventful for the most part; The Evil One (my mom’s husband) only stormed out of the house once.  I met my quota!  Not really.  I wish we all got along, but he’s such a narrow-minded, devisive, manipulative, “other” hating person that it’s difficult.  [...]

the list

These are the things I plan to work on over the long weekend:
1.  Baby surprise jacket for a friend
2.  Finish SB’s socks (just a foot to go!)
3.  Knit the other sleeve and front of the Notre Dame de Grace pullover (then it will be finished)
4.  Start a new sock
Of course I won’t get around to [...]

geometrid

When we were camping the other week, I swear  I saw this stick move out of the corner of my eye as I was climbing out of the tent.

How cool is that?

We transferred the caterpillar to a twig and watched it go into its defense mode.

Amazing.

$13.75 plus tax

I noticed these in my LYS recently and decided to get a pair.

They’re supposed to make sock knitting even faster because you just knit around and around, no fiddling with dpns, no pulling cables through or needles dangling.  Just knit.  Around and around and around.
This got me thinking about knitting, and about knitting faster.  Pardon [...]

the two week sweater?

If anyone scrolled to the end of Monday’s post, you might remember that I mentioned knitting a sleeve over the weekend.  Well, now I have half a back…

It’s the Notre Dame de Grace Pullover from the Summer IK, which some people might think is “dated” but I prefer to call “classic.”  :o)  Actually, it looked [...]

Rhinebeck

You guys didn’t know I went to Rhinebeck, did you?

Okay, well, *I* didn’t actually go, just a bit of my money did, and thanks to the kindness of a fellow wool fiend, my spoils arrived today!  I didn’t show off my SAFF purchases so I’ll make up for that now.  ;o)

This is a lovely bump of [...]

I am not as smart as I (sometimes) think I am

Sarah makes incredibly beautiful “yarn bowls” and in a thread on Ravelry, she mentioned she was coming to SAFF and would bring any orders with her, thus saving on shipping costs.  Since I’m a big fan of pottery, especially that made by small artisans, I HAD to take a look at her yarn bowls.  In fact, [...]

perfect weekend

We left Saturday for a short backpacking trip, our first of the season.

The weather was perfect and the colors were incredible!

I want to plant our backyard with wild blueberry bushes – aren’t they lovely?
Oh yes, and I knit a sleeve.  More on that later!
