yarn and knitting and maracas

Did I mention that I won a contest last week?  No?  Well, I did!  And my spoils prize arrived Saturday!

Look at that cute giftcard!  Jennie, I’m totally going to copy you and create some of my own!  Also going to copy you on those super-cool kneehighs!

Yum!  I knew the yarn was coming because I got [...]

Muscle shirts only from this day forward!*

Can I tell you how much I hate knitting sleeves?

They won’t get any longer, no matter what I do. I knit them a MINIMUM of 1.5 hours per day, steadily going round and round that Addi lace turbo size 5 needle (the one that turns my fingers black every time I use it), two sleeves at [...]

I’m over it

The infatuation with the Drops sweater, that is.  At least for now.
I’ve picked the sleeves back up and instead of wristlets, now they’re gauntlets!  About five more inches to go until the yoke.  I’ll post progress pics soon.
In the meantime, here’s a little Mack LOLcat for ya.

my cheatin’ heart

Y’all, I am so sick of thinking about this sweater.  I need to stop thinking about it and just knit the damn thing.  It’s not like I haven’t given myself breaks from it, either.  I’ve spun.  I’ve dyed.  I’ve demonstrated spinning.  I spun up three new colors this weekend because I convinced myself that I [...]

peanut butter soup

Earlier this week I made a comment on JenLa that this weekend I will be knitting wool and making peanut butter soup, that the air conditioning will be running but that I truly believe I can WILL Fall to arrive through my activities!
I think the words peanut butter soup really jumped out, because I’ve had [...]

sidetracked

I know I said I was going to get right back on my SAFF sweater challenge this week.

But I was sooo curious to see how this BFL I dyed would spin up that I couldn’t resist it.

I spun 4 of the 8 ounces I’d dyed and started to ply it using the chained singles method (opens [...]

With a little help from my friends

The spinning demonstration was a success!  I didn’t freak out, I talked to strangers about spinning and I even taught a painter how to spin.  He was awesome, too, took to the wheel like a natural.  Patrick (no link that I could find) was so funny – he said I must have the calves of [...]

Dish Rag Tag box packed and ready to go?  Check.
Create mile-long list of things to do for ArtWalk?  Check.
DO things on mile-long list of things to do for ArtWalk?
Um, that’ll be tonight.  How about a pretty flower?

Or two?

These photos are completely untouched.  I usually sharpen photos, or use the “I’m feeling lucky” option in [...]

I got tagged!

The box arrived today from my Dish Rag Tag team, the Happy Yarn Hags!

I am the last person on the list to receive the box, and it was really cool to open it up and see the messages from all over the country

But it was even cooler to see the dishrag and surprises Mary sent!

Thank you, [...]

bless my little heart

I’ve lost my cotton-pickin’ mind.
I  know it’s hard to see, but where it says Saturday Artist Workshops, from Noon -2, that’s me.  I’m going to be “Exploring Fiber Arts” – AS A DEMONSTRATOR – this Saturday for ArtWalk.  This is why I’ve been dyeing roving like a mad woman – I’m hoping to distract people’s [...]
