White Stripes Sauna and oh yeah, some fiber
I’ll start off with the fiber because I know not everyone wants a concert review, but we ALL want fiber, right?
This is the yarn I made over the weekend that I decided not to use for my sweater. Superwash wool spun from batts from Miss Babs. The one on the left is 350 yards and the [...]
What on earth was I thinking?*
Did you know that Sloss Furnace concerts are outside, for the most part?
I didn’t.
Did you know that today’s forecast is for a high of 90, but with 82% humidity?!?
I didn’t, but I could have guessed it.
I mean, I like the White Stripes and all, but I am going to ROAST!
*Ha. I bet you thought I [...]
I drank the wine, then threw down the gauntlet
Yes, I know that blog title makes no sense and it should be “goblet,” but I like it and I’m keeping it. Work with me here.
You know how all the cool kids who live much further to the north and east than yours truly go to that certain festival each year and they knit their [...]
The ugliest yarn in the whole USA
Remember these merino singles?
Making a two-ply was a bad idea. The colors muddied and a good portion of the roving was already muddy-colored so the resulting yarn just looked like … well …. see for yourself.
Blech. It looks like some sort of sick spaghetti. What’s worse is that I overdyed it last night and the [...]
If you need me, I’ll be in the doldrums
Anyone else feeling like they’re knitting/spinning/hooking/crafting to beat the band, but have nothing to show for it?
What’s worse – everything I’ve been working on is registering bleh on my radar, right below meh but ahead of ugh. What I want to knit is a huge, soft, wooly scarf in gorgeous colors with an interesting stitch [...]
jellies
Aren’t they beautiful? I could have watched them all day.
The fiber report
It wasn’t all hiking in Tennessee. On the longer-than-I’d-remembered drive up and back, I knit exclusively on my Argosy Wrap. I had dyed small bits of roving in the microwave, just playing around, and I thought they would coordinate with the colors in the wrap thus far.
And they might have, if I’d plied them with [...]
Mt. LeConte – the wordy post
I hope you’re not sick of the pictures. I should be kind and put them in a Flickr folder and just link to that but I’m a giver. If your one love is fiber, here’s what I have for you today
Yes, I’m attempting toe-ups again. This time using yarn I dyed while flirting with the [...]
On top of ole smoky
all covered with trees, I lost my poor kneecaps, yet performed a striptease…
What a great trip! Memory is selective, you know, and right now, sitting in a comfy chair with hazelnut creamer in my coffee, all clean and well-rested, I can reflect upon the weekend and think happy thoughts.
I have quite a few pictures, so [...]
I’m so excited!!!
This weekend, we’re headed here! Where we’ll stay in one of these:
And walk along trails like this
and like this
and hopefully see lots of these
and perhaps one or two of these (which have a whole new meaning for me now!)
These pictures were taken three years ago but (unlike myself) I’m sure the Lodge and the trail [...]
