Ideas for handspun projects
handspun mosaicOriginally uploaded by flwrhead
I love Flickr. So much inspiration, so many wonderful things people have created.
Jen asked what I was going to do with all my handspun and you know, I’ve been wondering the same thing. The colors are too varied for a wearable item larger than a scarf. I’m a pretty basic type [...]
It took four days
but I finally caught up with my blog reading! I’m going to enjoy this sense of accomplishment for a little while before I check Bloglines this morning.
Yesterday, I went to my guild’s Spin Study. The shepherdess I wrote about last month that I was supposed to buy a fleece from had called me Tuesday and [...]
Wouldn’t you like to be a Pepper, too?
I’ve gone sign-up crazy!
I’ll be participating in Melanie’s new lace KAL! Me and 3,000 other knitters. Oy! Funny thing is, I just bought Melanie’s Leda’s Dream pattern and started it on the drive to the beach with steel Zephyr from the stash. I’m about six inches in, but I think I want to use the Zephyr for [...]
post-vacation post
I’m struggling with real world re-entry so I’ll let my pictures do the talking.
Deer at the beach. Never thought I’d see that!
We were the last house before the St. Joseph Peninsula State Park and these posts marked the park boundary. One evening, emboldened by rum punch, we harrassed beach walkers by making illegal entry buzzer noises [...]
Meet my sistah, da hooka
My sister Jennifer is on the left. She’s going to kill me for posting this picture but I bet she still makes the same face, it just doesn’t get caught on camera.
Here we are riding a giraffe at Santa Claus Land in Santa Claus, Indiana. It was a little bright that day. Note the matching haircuts [...]
If Wednesday were Friday
I’d post pictures of our blooming sunflowers. But hey. If Maryse can go back in time, I can go forward!
Doesn’t it look like the red has been painted on?
I think the buds look wicked cool.
I had a VERY successful retail therapy lunch today! Got two beach-reading books, a new garlic press (because I broke our [...]
lost and found
Found my knitting mojo! Friday night I cast on and Saturday evening, I had a sock!
I was so pleased with my quick progress that I immediately cast on for another!
Yes, yes, I know. They don’t match. It’s just…the first one went by so fast that I wanted to save the second sock for awhile. And [...]
I’m a quitter
Some people get going when the going gets rough, but me? I get quitting. This applies to house projects, knitting projects and life projects. I’m an equal opportunity quitter.
Remember my Rick James socks? Yeah, I quit them. I haven’t totally quit them, they’re not frogged, just hanging out in my handspun tub, but they will [...]
And the winner is….
I love this action shot.
CARRIE!!! I’ve sent you an email asking for your roving preference and snail mail.
Thanks to everyone who played along! It was so much fun hearing all the stories and imagining what it must have been like to live through some of those experiences! I really enjoyed having this contest; I’ll have [...]
I have a whole new respect for hand dyers
Before I show my mediocre results, here are some lessons I’ve learned in the past few days:
1. Dollar Tree ROCKS! Need a bucket for soaking your yarn? $1. Plastic measuring cups for custom mixed colors? That’ll be $1, please. Turkey baster for squirting on dye? One buck. $100,000 bar to keep your energy up? TWO [...]
