The Circus McGurkus

I did not get a lot accomplished this weekend.  Unaware that there even was such a thing, Saturday I conducted a dress rehearsal for Super International Pajama Day.  I did shower, but then put on a fresh pair of pajamas.  You’d think with the laziness and not leaving the house and all, that I’d have gotten [...]

Love is a verb

That’s a favorite quote from my best bud Liz.  She has several other gems:
“They can’t throw you in jail for asking.”
“They are where they want to be.”
“It’s only kinky the first time.”
I love her one-liners, but this morning, it was all about “Love is a verb.”

Ten minutes before I got into my car and saw this, [...]

Show off your wallpaper!

Kat asked, and since I always enjoy her entries so much (and don’t have anything else fascinating to post about), I’ll happily comply.

Not nearly as cute as Kat’s, but it brings back good memories.  Show off your wallpaper, and let Kat know you did!

New LYS, new project

Saturday, SB and I drove to Montevallo.  He needed to do some work on his mom’s roof and I took the opportunity to stop into Sheep to Shawl, a new knitting and spinning shop.  The owner, Rae Jean, was super nice and happy to see another spinner!  I bought merino/silk roving and some Wensleydale (“Cheese, [...]

Green is a dominant color?

I wouldn’t have thought so.  But when I drafted the Falkland roving I dyed a couple of weeks ago, green was definitely the strongest color.

I didn’t expect it to come through so strongly when it was plied.

This was taken with flash, so it’s a little brighter than the real stuff.  I made this a three [...]

some of my favorite colors

are found in nature

both soothing and inspiring,

I am drawn to these colors

in what I create

and in my surroundings.

Some might call it boring, but I think if we stick with the colors we love

we can’t go wrong.

Rick James is rolling

 It’s a very kinky sock
The kind you wouldn’t knit for mother
It will never let your gussets down
Once you get it past the heel, ow yeah
It likes to use up all your yarn
So you don’t waste your very favorites

When I put my toes inside it, it’s the right size
It’s never hard to tell
Ow now
That [...]

If you finish a WIP in a new year, does that count as a FO for that year?

Just wondering, because I finished my sister’s Fetching mitts last week (wove in the ends Friday night) and gifted them without a picture (bad blogger).
I did, however, take a picture of my niece’s ipod cozy that I knit (correctly – my FIRST correctly-knit item!) Friday night and Saturday morning.

My own pattern, I cast on 24 [...]

all packed and ready to go

I finished plying the BFL last night – approx. 700 yards destined to become my first pair of two at a time, toe-up socks on two circs!  I have my Knitty instructions, my Knit Picks size 1 24″ circs and my pattern (Maybe.  Or maybe I should make these knee socks – knit till I run [...]

spinning my wheels, going nowhere

I have been diligently spinning this BFL dyed by Adrian.

Sorry for the crappy picture.  Believe me when I say it is gorgeous shades of yellow, orange, brown and black.
I started spinning this Saturday (I think).  Worked on it all last weekend and every night this week.  I don’t know why I was in such an all-fire [...]
