The fiber report

It wasn’t all hiking in Tennessee.  On the longer-than-I’d-remembered drive up and back, I knit exclusively on my Argosy Wrap.  I had dyed small bits of roving in the microwave, just playing around, and I thought they would coordinate with the colors in the wrap thus far. And they might have, if I’d plied them [...]

a scary and exciting (ad)venture

Yesterday I did what all good knitters do when they’re in a slump – I went shopping!  My logic went something like this:  I need a new project to jumpstart the mojo.  I have nine skeins of Rowan Summer Tweed in my stash, but no pattern.  Call LYS#1 that’s closest to work – they don’t [...]

even more self-indulgence

Guess what I just bought? Three batts of Abby‘s merino/tencel luxury batts.  I’ve wanted to spin merino/tencel for a long, long time, and I’m a little down today so I decided to make myself feel better. I’m down because yesterday I went to my guild’s monthly spin study and I was all excited because I [...]

Pictures! Of yarn!

Yeah, I know what you guys want.  Yarn, yarn, all the time.  Yarn in the morning, yarn in the evening, yarn in the middle of the day.  ‘s okay, I like it too! First…stash growth.  When Blogless Ginny asked me to go to In the Making‘s relocation grand opening, I was like, eh, okay.  I [...]

I can’t resist a good sale

So, this whole Knit From Your Stash thing?  Well, I made until March 17th!  Knit Nouveau was having a sale Saturday in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, and their flyer said they were clearing out Debbie Bliss and Rowan yarns.  I went, hoping against hope, to find a ball or two of DB Cotton DK [...]

Show us your booty!

Here’s the stuff I got at SAFF: Top L to R - 8 oz. CVM, 8 oz. 64s Merino top, Lanaset starter kit plus a half ounce of four more colors, 1 lb. Falkland (all this roving is from Little Barn), greenish multi-color wool/silk/sparkly roving I bought to play with.  It was really cheap and it was [...]

So much to do

So little time.  Isn’t that always the way?    I made a hat from this handspun.  It’s Madge, from Knittyspin, and I think it took more yardage than stated but I’m not 100% sure because I haven’t measured the leftovers.   It’s hard to take a picture of your own head!  The Debbie Bliss Cotton [...]

someone please help me

I’m outta control.  I just ordered two pounds of roving from The Sheep Shed.  TWO POUNDS!!!!!  I see lots of dyeing in my future…. Tomorrow – pics of my roving curtain – all spun up … and maybe even some knitting!

Stashy stashy stash stash!

My LYS, Knit Nouveau, is moving (closer to me, hallelujah!) and their inventory reduction sale started yesterday morning at 10:00.  I took my “lunch” at 10:30 and man, did I ever score!  I was worried that only novelty yarn would be reduced, and there was plenty of that to be sure, but there was also [...]

Koigu and Unibroue, Or Why I love Canada

Whew!  Back from Memphis!  Tom Waits was AWESOME, I am so glad we went!  He played the one song I really wanted to hear – Invitation to the Blues – but I loved everything he sang.  I know they’re all the rage right now, but Tom Waits is a real pirate. Memphis was great, too!  [...]
