just knitting along

Posted on | May 26, 2010 | 17 Comments

I’ve been steadfastly knitting my Fair Isle Cardigan.

Two color repeats are done and I’ve started the third.  I’ve also finished the pair of man socks and need to take a picture.

These are my next socks to finish.  They were started in March of 2008, which is just CRAZY.  I finished the first sock, knit the cuff and a repeat of the lace pattern on the second sock and then just stopped.  No idea why.  I picked them up a few days ago and I’m almost to the heel on the second sock!

The past couple of days I’ve struggled with intense sleepiness.  I had a sleep study done a couple of months ago and was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, so I’ve been sleeping with a CPAP machine for the past month.  I expected to see a difference, but other than not snoring any longer, there’s been no improvement in daytime sleepiness.  Both yesterday and today I could’ve fallen asleep on the drive to work and if it weren’t for a strong cup of black tea in the afternoon, I’d have been face down on my desk.  I have a follow-up appointment tomorrow and I’m hoping they can trouble shoot what’s going on.  In the meantime, I may have to pick up a simpler project!

Hope you’re all doing well!

Oh, how I know how you feel. I do *not* snore much at all (softly, and not gasping for breath) but I’m exhausted every day. That’s Fibro for me though, so it’s to be expected. I hope you’re able to figure it out, exhaustion really sucks.

The sweater looks beautiful! I’m in awe.

Pretty knitting! I’m sleepy all the time too but that has to do with the fact that I stay up too late and get up too early. lol

I gasped when your page loaded! Your fair isle is so fabulous!!

As for sleepiness, you mentioned a while ago you had undertaken a new fitness routine…whenever I increase my physical activity I end up quite drowsey for a few weeks until my diet and sleep are all aligned with the increased exercise…any chance that’s what’s bothering you?

That sweater is going to be gorgeous! I thought my Lismore had put me off stranded colorwork for a while but now you’ve got me itching to start it up again.

Lord, if they figure out what’s going on with you, please let me know. I struggle with that sometimes as well and have yet to find anyone that can give me any advice on how to correct it.

Love, love, love that sweater, btw. It’s going to be a work of art.

You DO love color work! It’s looking great and so darned intricate – I’d have lost patience long ago. What time of day are you exercising? Maybe that has something to do with it?

The Fair Isle is looking just beautiful! That sleep apnea sounds just terrible… I hope the MDs figure something out for you STAT.

Good progress. With that much sleepiness, too. Good idea on the troubleshooting appt. Not enough pressure? Does it stay on all night? Something else? (Not an expert.)

Yesterday it took me about 6 hours of being ‘up’ to feel awake. I put it down to allergies this time of year.

Oh no – hope you get some sort of resolution with the sleep apnea. Hopefully it won’t cause you many problems.

Your knit projects are looking great!

Your fairisle looks beautiful! It’s making me want to figure out a pattern for that yarn hiding in the stash…

Good luck with the tired; it can be a real struggle. Hope they find something soon!
