a disturbing lack of fiber

Yes, this blog has been sorely lacking in fiber lately. Exercising a couple times a day and food prep for eating healthily takes a toll on the amount of time I have for fiber fun, but it’s worth it – I’ve lost 6 lbs in two weeks!
Last weekend, I was in the mood to spin. I had two coordinating 60% merino, 40% bamboo rovings from Miss Babs in the stash, and decided to spin one bobbin of each and ply them together.
I like it! I need to spin up the remaining fiber and then I’ll do a yardage count.
On a totally random note – have you ever had French Green Lentils?
One of my favorite foodie blogs is Herbivoracious. I have 27 posts bookmarked for future meals, crazy. When he posted his recipe for Spanish Lentils and Mushrooms, well, I had to try it. I’m a sucker for mushrooms; I could eat them every day. We went to Whole Foods to search for pappardelle noodles (they had them!) and I stocked up on fresh fruit and veg, and also French Green Lentils (which I’d never seen or tried before). They’re awesome!
Michael’s recipe was fab too (and his picture is much better than mine)! I subbed red wine vinegar for sherry vinegar and baby bellas for crimini mushrooms, and I doubled the quantity of mushrooms (because I’m truly an addict) and it was yummy and very easy for a weeknight dinner. The tomato basil vinegarette salad was incredible. I can’t wait to make this with tomatoes from the garden.
Thanks for coming by – and thanks for your patience with the lack of knitting/spinning! I’ll have six hours of car knitting this weekend, as we’re driving a fair distance to hike a new-to-us trail, and plan to start a sleeve (or two).
Have a great weekend!

I’m so glad you liked the lentils! Your pic looks good to me, and I think doubling the mushrooms sounds dandy.

That recipe sounds amazing! I’ve bookmarked it to fix this week. Enjoy your weekend hike. Hope you don’t have to dodge too many raindrops tomorrow.

That lentil recipe looks fantastic – I’ll have to try it! Have you tried red lentils? The NYT recipes for health column has a fantastic recipe for red lentil soup.
That merino/bamboo fiber is absolutely gorgeous. You’ve got me itching to start another project on the wheel but that will just have to wait until after we move. One more week to go!

Thanks for the links to what looks like a great veg blog! The lentils look delicious – I’m going to go get the ingredients for this today when my foodie son gets home.

Oh that yarn is fabulous! I love the soft colours in combination. As for French Lentils – love love love them too! (Actually I also love red and regular brown ones just as much!)Your recipe sounds delicious.
A few years ago I undertook the kinds of changes you talk about working on now and I must say things get more efficient over time so that I stopped feeling pressed to fit in all my activities and live an active life with good food to look forward to as well!
Have a great weekend – its sounds like its going to be a fun one!

Did the yarn and the lentils come from the same dye pot? :):) Looks like it.

Ahh, fibery goodness. Very pretty.
I’m going to check out that guy’s blog. I love ‘shrooms, too. Oh, criminis, brown buttons and baby bellas are all the same thing. A portobello is just a crimini all grown up.

Very pretty handspun!
Congrats on the weight loss! I’ve been attempting weight loss myself – 10 lbs so far! I stepped up my weights this morning and now it feels like my arms are going to fall off. It’s kind of awesome. ;o)
