happiest

One of my oldest friends posted on my Facebook wall that I’m happiest in the woods and I think she may be right.

We had a wonderful trip to Foster Falls, TN.  I didn’t take pictures of the falls there, but you can see them here if you like.

These pictures were taken at Greeter Falls, part of the Savage Gulf natural area.

A winding metal staircase leads down to the falls.

The boy did a lot of rock hopping, which prompted SB to start singing “what a drag it is, getting old.”  Ah, the agility and fearlessness of youth!

Aren’t these colors incredible?!?!  Wouldn’t you just love a sweater with these colors in it?  I know I would!

I will NOT make a joke about likin’ the lichen.  Heh.

Moss remains my favorite thing to touch.

After visiting Greeter Falls, we hiked to Boardtree Falls, which was impressive, but you couldn’t get very close.

And of course we stopped by our favorite restaurant in Tracy City, the Dutch Maid Bakery, where you can get a plate-sized homemade blueberry waffle for $3.25.

It was fun, it was relaxing, and there was even knitting!  I started a new project and finished an old one, but haven’t taken pics yet, so next time!

It may be time to break out my hiking boots. Need to change up my routine, y’know?

I love the pics – thanks for sharing.

Beautiful photos. Your Greeter Falls looks remarkably like Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis:http://www.mspmoretolife.com/photoContest/large_Minnehaha_Falls_II2.JPG

Yeah, lots of self restraint with the joke, eh?

The colors are wonderful. Isn’t this the start of your indie dyer career? Glad you had a good time.

OMG. I live hundreds of kilometres north of you and yet the landscape in our area – Grey County on the shores of Georgian Bay in Ontario – looks identical to what you show in your post. At first glance I thought you must have visited our Bruce Trail.

I think I now live to visit that bakery. Or one like it. Why does everything have to become a chain these days? I’d like to touch the fuzzy moss, too. It looks like you guys had a great time with good weather. Did you stay overnight?

Oh, that looks like a great place to hike! Thanks for sharing. I love being in the woods but what I really have to have for relaxation is moving water. It can be ocean (I do love the ocean) or a rushing river or a trickling stream, but it has to be moving. I can feel my shoulders lower to their natural position (even if I din’t know I was tense)and my body and mind slow down. AAhhhh …

What a beautiful place to spend a weekend–thanks for sharing! I’m definitely happiest in the woods…and can get a bit cranky if I don’t get enough outside time!
