For the past week, I've thought of little but Lost. Sick, I know. There's this part of me that wants the show to end with a huge jaw-dropping "what just happened?" kind of moment, but the other part of me wants everything neatly tied up. I'm so conflicted. But I have to say, I wasn't that enthused with this season's first episode.

Yay, I can finally read your post! I agree with everything you've said except one - I think the purpose of showing the reality losties is to show that even had they not crashed on the island, their lives would've ended up the same anyway, that destiny doesn't adhere to an outlined, specific path; the result will always be the same no matter.

Why do I think this? Like you said, in the reality losties, Jack will operate on Locke and Locke will walk again. Kate will be on the run and now that she has "run" into Claire, some situation will arise that she is now caring for Claire's baby and maybe somehow she will be exonerated. Hugo will go on to be his happy go lucky self, Sayid will reunite with Nadiya but she'll be killed anyway, etc.

I haven't really thought it through more than that. Except for the obvious Biblical references throughout...Jacob = God, Bad Locke = Satan, Ben = Judas, Sayid = Lazarus (maybe), Claire's baby = Jesus (again, maybe), dark eyeliner guy = archangel Gabriel, etc. And Bad Locke wants to be unleashed onto mankind. Pretty clever, I'd say! I can't wait for the rest of the season!

That is too funny! I was just explaining to my MiL my LOST theory of alternate realities. I totally agree. The bomb detonation must have fractured the timeline and created one reality where the plane flys on and one reality where the Losties are still on the island, trying to fight off the Locke/Man in Black/Smoke Monster dude.

And this confirms to me that Jacob was really good (I never could tell). I think maybe, maybe Jacob was put on the Island to keep the Man in Black/Smokemonster from escaping. And now what does Evil Locke (who is the man in black/smokemonster) want to do more than anything? Get off the island!

Its gonna be a good final season!!!

Whoa!
Impressive.

I have been revelling in it all week - those yours is the first post I've read.

It's crazy busy for me right now and I haven't posted so I am trying to avoid outside influences...hee hee.
I'm so happy you're blogging about LOST! How else to share the madness?

I like your theories. And can I say how glad I am that we so far haven't been exposed to old whiny Shannon?!

I love this: The Losties’ struggle is representative of the struggle we all face between doing what is easy and adequate (Reality) and doing what is right and should be done for the betterment of all (the Island).

I HOPE they do not leave us guessing much at all in the end. I am hoping both storylines dovetail into completeness and maybe meet somewhere in the middle?

I think Jack's comment to Locke in the airport: Nothing is irreversible
will be the theme of this season.

I also thought Sayid was maybe Jacob's new host (mostly because why else would Sayid matter so much??) but we are in the minority. :-D

I am really interested to see what Aaron's role will be and I love how our Losties are being drawn together and that Jack is feeling the connections.

Just love, love, loved the premiere! It promises many good things to come.
I also love the circular nature of the episode titles (but I won't write them here in case they are spoilers [well they are - but I saw them by accident I HATE spoilers])

And there is no chance you think too much about this!

Interesting and well thought out theory. Another one I read that appeals is that in the final episode the Losties will all be in the diner when Tony Soprano is shot ;^)

I only watched the first season and a bit of the second and then they 'lost' me. ;-) It is interesting to understand how they are going to wrap up the series though!

Good job. I'm leaving all my thinking up to you from NOW ON. Seriously, you rock.

When Sayid woke up, I said "Jacob." My men said "whuh?"
