Sometimes life can be pretty rough, and when it is, I spin.

70% targhee, 30% angora, a little over 500 yards of three ply from an 8 oz. roving ball I got at the January Spin-In.

4 oz. of merino/silk from River’s Edge Weaving Studio, also purchased at the January Spin-In.

This is some wool I dyed quite awhile ago and finally got around to spinning up.  Haven’t measured yardage, I almost kept it as singles and kinda wish I had.

I can’t really expand on the “life is rough” comment because sometimes you can’t put all your personal business out there on the internet.  My third blogiversary came and went and rather than posting about it, I pondered over how well you can really know someone from a blog – there’s no way that bloggers tell everything there is to tell about what’s going on in their lives, and it all seems very two-dimensional to me at the moment.

Sorry to be so morose – I’m sure this will pass and life will return to normal soon.  I haven’t knit a stitch since returning from vacation – everything I’m working on requires chart reading and I just haven’t had the patience or brainpower for that.  The one simple project I had going, a pair of socks for my mother, is in limbo until I find the beginning of the second sock.  Yes, it’s gone.  Lost.  AWOL.  Last place I saw it was Chuck E. Cheese, in a ziploc with 2″ of cuff, 3″ of leg and a set of Crystal Palace DPNs.  To make it even worse, the yarn store I bought the yarn from has now gone out of business.

I believe I’ll spin some more.

eta:  Thanks to good friends’ suggestions – the sock yarn I’ve lost is Jojoland Melody, colorway 11.  Let me know if you find it!  Ha.

I’m sorry things are out of sync right now……hang in there!!

The yarn is beautiful and I love the color you dyed!!

What sock yarn are you looking for? Maybe someone has some in their stash and will share so you can complete your Mom’s socks.

I’m so sorry, sweetie. Keep spinning and we’ll hope things get better.

You’re right that we don’t talk about everything in our blogs. In part because who wants to hear about bathroom cleaning and bed making, and in part because some things the world doesn’t need to know because it’s easier on us. Like how my best friend dropped me like a hot rock last year. It happened, but there was no point in talking about it because there was no fixing it. Ya know? Doesn’t mean I’m hiding anything really. Just some pain I didn’t want to share.

Then again, I sort of just did, didn’t I? o.0

    xo

I’m not working today, but we sell & ship online and do carry a wide variety of colors for the Jojoland Melody. i just don’t know the color numbers well enough to go – oh that’s ‘fill in the blank’.

Also with plastic she’s more than willing to order for you too. ;-)

Beautiful spinning! Hope things work out and if nothing else you’ll have beautiful yarn to work with in the future.

even though we (i’ll go ahead and speak for your audience, at least those that agree with me) don’t really know you, we definitely look forward to hearing about what’s going on with you, sanitized or not, and wish you the best.

happy 3rd blogiversary, and thanks for all the beautiful photos, tales of knitting/spinning joys and sorrows, and peeks into your garden and hiking trails. it’s a pleasure to read you!

Well, happy 3rd blogiversary! The blogosphere is a better world with your blog in it!

…you are right about the 2 dimensional thing..real life /virtual life…(sometimes they spill over into each other, but not often)

At any rate… I hope for you that the rough patch is short-lived. During tough times, my wheel is my best friend…spin on…(the targhee/angora blend sounds soooo soft, it can’t help but smooth the rough spots…just a little bit!)

No, blogs hide a lot. You can have your heart burnt lightly around the edges here. The key is getting to know folks F2F, trusting that instead. I’m sorry you are feeling blue.

Your yarns look so soft and even. The one-that-might-have-been-singles looks good plyed to my eye. Of course, I didn’t see the other choice :)

Summer blues… get them too. In fact, they are worse to me than any kind of winter blues. Thank goodness you have your Rose to help you cope! Great yarn! I like the last one the best… what kind of whool is it?

It amazes me when I find the occasional blogger who writes about even the most private details. I always wonder if they won’t come to regret it someday. Keeping a degree of privacy is a matter of protection, emotionally as well as in other ways.

I hope things improve for you soon. The merino/silk combo looks heavenly.

Here’s hoping things are looking up for you, or at least turning the corner!

I’ll bet that Targhee/Angora is soooo lovely and soft!

The yarns are gorgeous as usual! That’s mostly why I don’t blog anymore; whatever I’d really want to say is completely too personal to place on the web, and I couldn’t really figure out who I was doing it for, why I was doing it, etc. YOU actually have something to share – Me? Not so much ;)

Oh, Elizabeth, I’m sorry things have been tough for you lately. Let me just say I feel you pain and if I lived near you, I’d bring you a casserole, or a coffee cake. (I make really good coffee cake.)

The yarn is lovely as usual but I adore the color of the yarn whose wool you dyed yourself. It looks so rich. Nicely done!

    Sending good thoughts!

Spin on through all crises, eh?

    This, too, shall pass?

That last bundle is mighty pretty.

(Jojoland stuff is all over ebay but you may have to buy a whole bag. But then you’d never be without!)

    Hang in there,
    Lynn

this yarn is beautiful, and i am understanding the power of fiber when it comes to coping with things that are less than fun. hope it gets easier over there!

I adore the rose colored yarn, absolutely adore it.

We all have different levels, mine stops probably at what I know would make life harder for my parents (extended family drama) and what happens in my bedroom. But that’s because I never say anything on my blog I wouldn’t say in person to just about anyone… and obviously, that’s a lot. :P

You’ve probably got enough stress in your life right now already. Take refuge in what brings you joy, and those who bring you solace. The rest can wait.

If spinning helps then spin, spin, spin!

Lovely handspun, good luck finding your sock!
