happy earth day!

Thank you, Earth, for making it so hard to choose my favorite photos!

I hope to have something fibery soon.  My brain has been in a cloud – yesterday I cast on for socks and accidentally cast on 84 stitches instead of 64 stitches.  I kept thinking ‘these look awfully big’ but I also kept knitting.  TEN rows after turning the PICOT hem, I counted the stitches.  84.  Not 64.

It’s a good thing I can still spin!

Do something good for the Earth today!

I did the oposite. Cast on too few stitches and after 3 rows (thank goodness) saw the error of my ways. I’ll do it right today.
LOVE the pictures…perfectly appropriate for today.

Beautiful photos! Don’t tell anyone but one of my new socks has two more stitches than the other one in the foot. I was almost done with the heel when I noticed and decided it just wasn’t worth it. ;o)

Beautiful photos! Don’t worry about the socks. We all have those days. I was making a cardi for my daughter, with the correct gauge, and kept thinking it was awfully big. I kept going and trusted the pattern. About halfway through I tried it on my 1.5 year old. It was too big. It did fit my husband though…

Does spinning count? I do want to repot a house plant, but spending time outdoors this time of year involves a lot of sneezing or heavily dosed antihistamines.

I love your photography, great shots. :)

I say you give yourself the day off mentally and spin away the time watching a guilty pleasure movie. Works for me.

Lovely pictures! The cast on flub gave me a laugh. I’ve had knitting experiences like that too. Isn’t it funny how we *know* something is off, but we keep knitting away?

Gorgeous photos. Did you take them all? Wow.

My current pair of socks has 64 instead of 60 stitches at the top of the leg. I didn’t figure out my error until I had knit an inch or so, so I decreased the extra stitches away gradually rather than rip out the inch of knitting. (Oh, the horror!) I’m hoping that will not make them too slouchy.

Happy Earth Day! Love your photos! Don’t worry- I had to tink back one row 3 times today because it would appear that I can’t count to 4-lol.

    Hi Elizabeth,

No offense at all! In fact, this post of yours made me feel really dumb for being such a crab about Earth Day and that’s what I posted. But then I put that post back into draft mode because I want to rewrite it. I think it was published for a short time.

I love my blog to be a beautiful place of crafting and family, and I got sad with myself for putting that Earth Day stuff up and making myself sick of it all. It had nothing to do with anyone’s comments at all – they were all insightful and wonderful.

    Thanks!
