flighty

It must be spring’s fault, but I can’t seem to land on anything for very long.

I haven’t been able to get interested in finishing the sleeves for my Ariosa lace cardi, but I’ve been making great progress on the Abstract Jacket.  Believe it or not, I was kinda sad to see the seed stitch end!  btw – I’m going on record right now to say that this sweater has some issues.  A couple of things are wrong in the charts that I’ve fudged my way through, and the 8 stitch cables have massive holes that are really bugging me, so it’s possible that the whole thing will be frogged.  But I’m not quite ready to give up!

I’ve knit the first set of charts – 60 rows - and the instructions say to knit another 30 rows before separating for the sleeves.  Here’s where I take leave of the pattern and it becomes a guideline rather than a script.  The jacket currently measures 18″ and another 30 rows would add 5″ to the body, which is much too long for me and would hit me at my widest point.  If I’ve learned anything from What Not to Wear, it’s that sweaters that cover the crotch make you appear shorter and were rightfully left behind in the 80s.  No thanks, I’m moving forward with the buttonholes!

These lovelies are spurring me on!  These are from Cyndy’s Etsy shop and are even more gorgeous in person!  Cyndy has several works of art in her shop, not only buttons but incredible beaded jewelry – go check it out!  I don’t know how she finds time to do all she does.

I can’t wait to see these buttons on the finished sweater!  Which means I’d best get back to knitting, if I can sit still long enough.

Woo, those buttons would spur me on too! How did I manage to read Cyndy’s blog this whole time and not know she had an etsy shop? /facepalm

Um. Yeah. We’ll blame it on spring.

Great minds apparently think alike. I actually just contacted Cyndy yesterday to see if she can make me a set of little rosewood buttons for the not-yet-started Coraline cardigan that’s next on my list. I just LOVE the stuff she makes.

Oh I’m so glad that you like the buttons!

Fun to see them through your camera lense :-)

I haven’t yet linked from my blog to the shop…I’m still trying to get the e-shop stocked!

Those nice beaded jewels are my sisters handy work…she makes “fancy” buttons. Mine are on the “plain” side.

I hope you work out the issues with the Abstract Jacket, it looks lovely from here!

Beautiful photos! That textured knitted fabric is so beautiful & soothing to look at – I can’t wait to see it turn into a wearable piece (That pattern you showed is one of the only patterns recently to make my little knitter’s heart go fluttering about!)

    And those buttons are gorgeous.

Those buttons are really going to pop on that sweater. Beautiful! I hope you don’t need to frog it – I want to see it when it’s done. Good luck!

Tough issues with the pattern instructions. (I’ve never been able to get an 8 st cable to look good, and haven’t given it enough of a lifetime to see if wear straightens out the holes.)

Beautiful buttons – isn’t it wonderful that Stacy and Clinton have made us such better dressers.

That is making a luscious fabric, and the buttons are knockouts! That will be one gorgeous sweater :)
