sicko

On Monday I came down with the virus that felled my husband last week. I spent the next two days in a Nyquil coma but have recovered enough to return to the land of the working, and the knitting.

I finished these socks! I’ve had this vibrant skein of Hello Yarn in Snuzzle in my stash for a LOOONNNG time, waiting for the perfect pattern. I tried the Herringbone Ribs Socks, the book excerpt pattern in the Winter 2009 IK (from Knitting Socks With HandpaintedYarns), but pooling soon became apparent and I really wanted to see if I could avoid pooling for once.

Nutkin to the rescue! This pattern was the perfect compliment to Adrian’s beautiful dye job. The only pooling was around the heel flap, which was a price I gladly paid for the added durability of a heel flap vs. a short row heel.
Another pair of socks for the drawer!
Lest you think I’ve abandoned my January sweater, Cassidy:

the end(s)
This was the scene at my house Saturday morning. Yes, the Girl Scout cookies WERE necessary, thankyouverymuch.

Cassidy is DONE! Buttons sewn on, ends woven in, I even wore her out shopping for jeans for the boy last Saturday! It was hot. I’m still in denial about living in Alabama, I suppose – this is why I continue to knit wool sweaters. I have yet to get FO pics, but hope to enlist the help of my resident photographer in the next few days, so stay tuned!

I am trying to break myself of the same denial. I feel a little cheated to have spring start in February, just when I am in the sweater knitting mode. Oh well, there’s always socks. Love your nutkins.

I guess you just need to get yourself a drum carder and some cotton, bamboo and/or silk to blend with the wool for future handknit handspun sweaters. Right? :-)

The Nutkin pattern made that yarn behave! I love the way they stripe. And your last photo, of the finished sweater, is artsy to the nth! I look forward to seeing a full portrait of the sweater.

Sounds like my house this last week, only with more Kleenex and less knitting!
I’m almost over it, just to stay home today with sick babe….

The socks look wonderful. I’ve downloaded the pattern for mine own.
You know, you can wear sweaters in the summer because offices always keep it too freakin’ cold!

It looks gorgeous! Both the sweater and the socks, so I suppose I should have said “they”. I have Nutkin in my Ravelry queue too, good choice.
So, does it ever actually get cold enough to wear sweaters in Alabama? I have a sneaking suspicion… not so much.

Fun socks and I can’t wait to see Cassidy!

Hope you are feeling right as rain soon. The pattern and socks are perfect together. Love them.

Can’t wait to see the finished sweater – the buttons looks tantalizing.
Wow! Those socks sure are a cure for the winter doldrums, aren’t they!!??!

Cannot imagine summer ever again. I’m sure Cassidy will find colder days in your parts. I’m looking forward to the reveal.

Sorry you’ve been sick. But Nyquil definitely does wonders. I don’t know if it actually helps anything other than to make me sleep, but that’s good enough. I love those comas.

Thnka you for the herringbone link. Another pair of socks added to the list! Sorry you’ve been feeling bad, but the sweater looks good.

I love the socks!!

Love the website, love the socks, love the sweater! And Savannah cookies are my favorite!!! But you know, they probably don’t call them that anymore, do they? It seems like they had a board meeting about 10 years ago where they renamed all the cookies and shrank their sizes by 30%.

Being sick does not seem to have had any effect on your ability to create beautiful FO’s!
Great photography…can’t wait to see more!

I hope you recover fully soon. The Nutkins are gorgeous, and I can’t wait to see Cassidy – such beautiful little cables!
