new obsession

Or maybe it’s the old obsession kicking back in, but all I want to do is spin and knit this.

75% natural-colored Coopworth/Romney cross, 15% BFL and 10% tussah silk from Maple Row Stock and Wool.  Drafts like butter, is soft as all get out, and I’ve already swatched and cast on for my next sweater.  Which will not be St. Patrick as previously thought (I need a simpler sweater for February – it’s a short month), but another pattern from A Fine Fleece – the Amanda Jacket.  With slight design modifications.  I’m throwing caution and good sense to the wind by starting this before I’ve spun all the fiber and it will likely come back to bite me in the rear.  I am hopeful it will all work out in the end.

So I can get back to spinning this – 3 ply polwarth, 564 yards and less than 4 ounces.  I really love long draw.

Have a great weekend!

That will be a pretty sweater, for sure. Alternating spinning and knitting will just keep you entertained, is all.

Gorgeous! I love it, it’s interesting without being too busy, and it’ll be beautiful when it’s done. Good luck!

Is it wrong to want to roll around in all that? You’re spinning is beyond wonderful.

I really should have sat in your lap and learned the long draw at the spin-in :) I can’t believe you got 564 yards out of 4 oz in 3 ply!!!! Both of these handspun yarns are just gorgeous. But I have to say it again… I need a Nikon camera! Your photos are outstanding!

Oooh. That is obsession-worthy indeed. I think that’s my favorite thing about knitting/spinning: the same old obsession becomes a completely new one with each project. That will be a beautiful sweater. Enjoy!
