just doing my part

We all have to support the economy, you know. And what better way to support the economy than by supporting small, independent fiber artists?

Top to bottom, left to right:
1. 500 grams of dyed Polwarth in the Frost Flowers colorway from Rovings (I regretted not buying this at SOAR and couldn’t pass up the opportunity when it so flagrantly presented itself to me in Destin, of all places!)
2. Two 4 oz. hanks of black blue-faced leicester from Gale’s Art in her Fruit Salad and Proud Peacock colorways
3 and 4. Two 4 oz. hanks of merino/seacell and merino/silk (both 70/30, I believe) from River’s Edge Weaving Studio. Carol and debb were awesome; we particularly enjoyed the mini-tutorial on how to achieve Noro-esque colors when spinning multi-colored top. If I can remember how she did it, I’ll post a tutorial with pictures!
5. A beautiful blend of black alpaca, wool and silk from Far Out Farms – I bought the last 3 oz. Kim had and am saving this for when I’m brave enough to put the lace whorl and flyer on my wheel. I have to say, if you ever have the opportunity to hang out with Kim, go for it! Her booth was directly behind my chair and I loved listening to her talk – so positive and cheery!
6. 2 oz. of camel/silk dyed by Chasing Rainbows Dyeworks that is also waiting for faster days of spinning.
I have to be completely honest and say that I did buy other fiber (in addition to the fleece I showed yesterday). Some I’ve spun and some I’m spinning now. When we see the sun again, I’ll take pictures but for today, that should be enough eye candy. :o)

Beautiful, bright colors! Perfect for the dreary days of winter. You’ll have a lot of fun spinning all that up, I predict!

The two middle ones look positively lucious! I just want to touch them, then get out my wheel and spin. Enjoy!
