January sweater

Friday night I swatched.

I worried for awhile that the cables weren’t popping like they should, so I cast on for one of the fronts  in the smallest size – just to swatch the cables there – and knit two cable repeats.  I liked the way they looked, so I knit on.

This morning I am at the sleeve cap of Sleeve Number Two.  Yes, I have figured out a way to thwart my old affliction – Second Sleeve Syndrome.  I simply knit the sleeves first!  At the beginning of a sweater, my momentum is strong and before I know it, the sleeves are finished and I can move on to the body.  This is the second sweater I’ve knit this way and so far, so good.  The only problem with this method is that stalling occurs when it comes to finishing – the sweater in my post last week lacks one sleeve to be sewn in and the neckband knit and I haven’t touched it yet this year.

I’ll get around to it.  As soon as I finish this sleeve.

Details raveled.

I love that color. Can’t wear it for beans, but I love it.

It’s okay that you haven’t touched the sweater yet this YEAR. It’s only 5 days old! I love the color of this one. Ooooh.

Oooh, purty pictures! You’re quite the product photograher, you know? The yarn looks lovely and the definition is gorgeous. Good luck! :)

Lovely! Knitting the sleeves first is a good idea – they seem so tedious since (in the bottom up construction) they’re the only pieces that get wider as you go.

NICE. I totally subscribe to the idea of sleeve swatching. I do one sleeve, back, front, other sleeve.

Your sweaters come together with amazing speed! Hard to imagine that you experience “stalling” at any stage! Lovely cables!

Those sleeves are gorgeous. I love the color, and the cables are just right; subtle, but definitely there. I knit both sleeves first, too. It makes it so much easier to finish the sweater when you don’t have sleeves to knit at the end!
