Almost there

I’m a little over halfway done with my Christmas knitting!

I took a little break over the weekend and finished some yarn.

I’ve lamented that I have a hard time spinning a consistent laceweight, or getting much over 300 yards from 4 oz. of fiber.  Perhaps I’ve been spinning the wrong fiber.  This is 95% cormo, 5% silk, 4.2 ounces, and…

640 yards!!!  My best spinning yet!

It’s 15 wpi, which makes it slightly larger than fingering weight so it’s not really laceweight, but I am fine with that.  It’s enough to do a good-sized shawl, and I’m leaning towards Estonian lace – any pattern ideas?

I hope everyone’s finished or close to finishing the shopping, baking, cleaning and wrapping – I can see the finish line and I am sooo looking forward to relaxing over the next few days!  Once I knit 2/3 of a sock and half a scarf, that is!  I’ll be back soon with some FOs and a contest!

I so totally love cormo. It’s spins like buttah and will make a gorgeous shawl!

Ooooooooh it’s beautiful! Where did you get it from? Did you buy it as a blend or blend it yourself?? *wants*

GOrgeous! I have to know where you purchased this fiber!?! Please? I have the new book – Knitted Lace of Estonia. I KNOW you would find a pattern in this to knit with this lovely yarn.

It is absolutely beautiful!! I’m with Tonni – the new Nancy Bush book has a TON of beautiful Estonian patterns in it. (I think there may also be a downloadable one on the IK website too, but I’m not sure about that…..)

It’s GORGEOUS! I’ve been wanting to do something light and airy, but then I probably wouldn’t ever wear it. They always look beautiful, but then I put them on and I look like a poser.

Can’t cookie swap – Most of the six or seven dozen I baked are going to the businesses in my building and the rest are going to mom’s. I kind of miss the fruit drop cookies but definitely not the Hartzhorn ones. Blech.

MERRY CHRISTMAS & WE MISS YOU!!!

The yarn is sumptuous. Your pictures make me drool. Check out Nancy’s book, and figure out the yardage for what excites your interest. It will gel down to one or two patterns. Then you will know.
