Holiday knitting

The fact that Christmas is ten days away finally hit me this morning. Fortunately, I only have two things that I HAVE to have finished – a wee little scarf and a pair of socks.
The scarf has been started and frogged but I’m not really worried about that. I can do garter stitch in my sleep if I have to.
The socks were started last night.
These are for my mother-in-law, who has expressed her desire for handknit socks on several occasions, the last time loudly announcing “I wear a size 7 1/2 narrow!” Since she doesn’t wear a size 10 and since these socks are on the short side (the leg is only 4.5 inches), I think I can do it. This is the Tabi Socks from Veronik Avery’s Knitting Classic Style. I knit the cuff last night and only have 24 rows before the heel. These will not have a separate toe, however, I just don’t see the point in that. If it’s warm enough to wear flip flops, why would you want to wear socks?
The yarn is Judy‘s Red Osier that I won for correctly guessing the yardage of Judy’s spindle-spun yarn. It’s gorgeous! The pattern is really cool too, but since time is of the essence, I opted for a lace pattern rather than cables. The pattern is going in my notebook for future projects! Thank you, Judy!
Before the impending holiday realization hit, I finished up some spinning.
This is the merino/bamboo I talked about last week. I’ve since plied it, but no pictures until I’ve set the twist. I find that the yarn can change so much during finishing, it’s often a different yarn entirely.
I also finished a mindless knitting project, but need to get proper FO shots, so for now, here’s a teaser!
Talk to you soon!

I need a camera like yours… although your knitting IS awsome, I think that camera would make any knitting look awsome :) 10 days and counting… this year i’m just not into the whole holiday thing… ready for the 26th!

Oooh, love that red yarn there! I’m such a sucker for garnet colors. Looking forward to seeing that blue shawl there, that looks so comforting in such a soothing shade.
If I don’t get to say hi otherwise, have a happy holidays!

I can’t even talk about Holiday knitting at this point. I’m in panic mode. I’ve got one more kerchief length scarf, a pair of fuzzy feet and a pair of plain socks to go!
Keeping my fingers crossed that I can get it all done in time.

Can’t wait to see how your finished merino bamboo turns out. I’m to my eyeballs in it around here, and I’ve mostly been doing singles.

Is that the simple, yet effective, shawl? Looks pretty, as does your spinning!

If I can finish one lace shawl in the next 10 days, I will call Christmas a huge success. Good luck!

I got all of my dishcloths finished, so I’m feeling pretty good. I’d like to churn out one more hat before the big day, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.
Can’t wait to see the mystery project!

I am LOOOVING that red yarn! I would wear socks with sandals, but that’s just the way I roll I guess. I think it’s a general dislike of shoes, overall. I’d rather wear sandals year around, wouldn’t you?

I didn’t think about it as ten days away. Well, eight days away now. I think I just got an ulcer.
