Squishilicious

Everyone knows how popular the Noro striped scarf is – Jared started a craze and at the time of this posting, there are over 2,500 projects in Ravelry.

I’ve always thought they were pretty but I have one skein of Silk Garden in my stash and that’s not nearly enough for a scarf.  I do, however, have a plethora of handspun.  It occurred to me that I could make one using two contrasting colors of handspun (same color theory as my Chevron scarf), and I pulled these two out of the stash:

I had my doubts, but I cast on and knit one, purl one, repeat for three days straight.

When I hit that really bright section, my doubts returned but I knit on.

I knit on for a long time.  I had trouble stopping, actually.  I haven’t measured it, but it’s about two feet taller than me.

And the squish factor?  Beyond compare – Noro can’t touch handspun.

What’re you waiting for?  Pull two skeins of contrasting yarn out of your stash – you know you’ve got ‘em!  Make yourself a squishilicious scarf!

And thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome back!!!

Beautiful! I think I like the handspun version much better. You can SEE the squish – although, I think that has a lot to do with your wonderful camera (which I covet). You aren’t by chance making this your swap scarf for the guild party are you??? (oh, I wish!)

That is the most beautiful non-Noro striped scarf I’ve seen!! Nice work.

Now see, I *might* be tempted by that one. Noro has pretty colors but feels like baling twine to me and I’ve never been interested in working with it. Of course, your way requires I actually SPIN something, so I’m thinking this will happen about, oh, next July….

Oh, sweet! Maybe that’s what the husband needs. I just hand the guy his first pair of handknit socks and now he’s moaning about his cold neck.

Or maybe I should just toss him the handspun and teach him to knit!

Totally can understand the “not be able to stop” factor here. It’s a fun looking scarf!
