two weeks in a nutshell

* OMG – my blog’s been hacked! Help! *

* Web host can’t help me and the hack has removed my edit rights so I can’t help myself *

* But I have a backup from three days before the hack!  Hooray! *

I have a finished object!  Yay!  But I can’t blog about it.  Boo.

* Web host tells me there’s no data on my backup *

* I try unsuccessfully to open the backup and can’t.  Bring in the troops!*

Hey!  It’s my birthday!  Happy Birthday to me, don’t wanna be blog-free…

* Tad saves the day! Extracts the data from my backup, rebuilds my blog and imports it all to my host’s server!*

Another finished object!!!

* I can’t post to my blog!  The WordPress install my host did won’t let me write to it!*

furiously spin laceweight merino/bamboo blend…spit a few nails…

* I sign on with a new host, Tad rebuilds my site and imports all my data to it!  365 posts and a ton of pictures and comments.  Two and a half years of blogging.  Saved by someone who knows what they’re doing and is delightful to work with!  (I really hate the word delightful, but in this instance, it fits).  Thank you, Tad!!!*

I am so glad to be off this roller coaster.  I missed you guys SO MUCH!  As soon as it stops raining (snowing?  that’s the forecast, but I’m not holding my breath), I”ll take pictures of my two finished items, but by that time, there’s likely to be three!

God, it’s good to be home.

Um, scuse me? “Web host can’t help me”?!?! Why wasn’t the next step “Lay waste to web hosting ‘service’”?
Glad you’re back. I was wondering, but figured it was holiday stuff…

Aw thanks Elizabeth! You’re way too kind. Seriously. It was definitely a pleasure working with you and, for an IT guy, that’s pretty damn priceless!

It’s so cool to see all of this back up and running for you! Even better to see you and everyone enjoying it again! WOOHOO! YAY for happy endings! :D

Oh gosh, sorry to hear about the jacking, ekk, that bites. I’m glad you were able to get someone to help fix things. What’s the new webhost btw so if something were to go awry I’d totally switch too.

Ain’t nobody gladder than me that she’s back up. I think the “Big Hack of ’08″ had her pretty close to breaking out the sledge hammer–she’s been threatening to knock down a wall in our kitchen & I was getting scared the blog frustration was gonna push her over the edge. Tad, if I ever meet ya, I owe you a beer.
