scattered, smothered and covered

Lately I feel like I’ve been thrown on the Waffle House grill – going in all directions and looking for a friendly spatula to pull me back together.
I finished my sweater back at knit night last Thursday and blocked it over the weekend.
Looks like a couple of spiders crawling up the back, doesn’t it? Ha. Now comes the hard part – figuring out what to do with the fronts. The cable is 28 stitches wide so repeating it on the fronts would take up most of the available stitches. I’m not sure I want to do that. I may incorporate another, narrower, cable. I’m mulling over the options.
In the meantime, I’ve contracted a horrible case of startitis.
I started the Alicia Tabard tunic that was the book feature in the 2007 Winter issues of Interweave Knits. I’m using what is quite possibly the oldest yarn in my stash for this – Karabella Margrite – 80% superfine merino, 20% cashmere. (Grace and Ginny may remember when I got this – Knit Nouveau was having a big sale and it was my first visit there and my second visit to a real yarn shop. I parked my husband in the checkout line and ran around, grabbing bargains and shoving them in his arms. It was crazy, and that was just the beginning). The yarn is heaven to knit. I have no idea if it’ll be flattering to wear, but the tactile pleasure is worth the chance.
I started a beaded bag, my first foray into knitting with beads. I need to make myself work on this more, as I’d like to gift it soon.
The weather yesterday made me start yet another new project. It was chilly so I grabbed my black leather jacket and wrapped my Forest Canopy Shawl around my neck like a little scarf and I tell you – I felt classy and pulled-together and pretty – just from wearing that little accessory. I kept glancing down at it as I drove to work and resolved right then and there that I needed a dozen lace shawls/scarves, one in every color, and cast on last night.
The humble beginnings of a Shetland Triangle shawl, knit in yet more of Jackie’s yarn because I liked her other yarn so much that after I posted last week, I bought two more skeins. I don’t even need you guys to enable me – I do it to myself! Terrible.
One of these days, I’ll get back to my sweater.
Oh, and in case anyone missed Monday’s Disapproving Rabbit, this one had to have been submitted by a knitter!

I remember that day! Poor Sgt. B! He didn’t know what was happening. However, Ginny and I found it highly entertaining.

Don’t you love it how one little piece makes you feel so special? I lurve all your projects. Not surprising since I lurve all cables. (I’m glad you mentioned the spider thing – it’s what I thought of, and think is cool, but didn’t want you to go to all that work and go, “ew, spiders!” lol)

I hear you on the lace lust… I’m a little more than halfway past my first lace weight lace project. Strange, as I love knitting lace and do it all the time, just not with lace weight. I’m looking forward to making more. That color’s going to look wonderful against your fair skin!
You are quite the knitting machine, keep up the good work. :)

Dude, your wearing me out with all of those projects. So much so that I actually called you dude.
I really like the tabard, but have not knit it yet. I may have to go pull that book off the shelf…

OOoooo, it’s all so pretty and shiny and wonderful. It looks like my delusions have abated for the time being, but I’m enjoying yours!

i can’t believe all the projects you have going on. love the spidery cables! and i’m impressed that you’re working with beads. i bought beads and yarn to make a hat i saw in Philly back in January that i haven’t gone near! just seems so daunting, you know?

I’m sure you’ll figure out an alternative cable for the front. And I agree that simple little shawls are a great accessory!

I had to keep scrolling up and down in an attempt to tell you which of your projects I like the best. Sorry, I love them all.

You know Elizabeth, it’s probably a good thing that we live so far apart. If we were able to hang out together, I would never be able to resist starting new projects that I don’t have time for – Christmas knitting would NEVER get done. As usual, I love everything you’re working on. Honest.

I think we love watching self-enablement. Not because of the potential for crash and burn, but because we need good role models.

I love them all – and now I want to start a new project. Gorgeous yarns!
