it’s Thursday, so you know what that means!

Random galore! Plus, Becky tagged me for seven weird/random facts so I’ll see what I can come up with. But I’m not tagging anyone cause it’s just too much pressure.
1. I am deeply offended by this:
I do not like pre-formed cookies. Prepared, refrigerated cookie dough, I have no problems with, as long as it comes in a tube and I can decide what size my cookies will be when I’m ready to bake them, and also eat the small bits of dough that stick to the spoon. I can’t help feeling gyped. Ounce per ounce, the packages may be exactly the same, but I refuse to buy packages of pre-formed cookies. Thus, there are no cookies in my house, and this makes me sad.
2. I’m not quite sure when this happened, but I’m having difficulty buying things. Things that aren’t directly related to every day existence – gas, food, fiber – that is. I need to go shopping for new shoes and a blouse or two, but not only do I not want to go shopping, the thought of spending money on these things nauseates me. It makes me anxious. Maybe it’s the economy, but I’ve felt this way for awhile.
3. I cast on for these socks at SOAR and knit until I got home. (Yes! Socks! The ennui has passed!) The more I look at the sock, the more I think that it’s too pretty to be a sock. To go on my feet and in my shoes.
See what I mean? Gorgeous stuff. From Jacki. I will definitely be a repeat customer. The sock has been sitting there, abandoned, for almost two weeks now. Do I proceed with the heel? Do I frog it and turn it into a fabulous neckwarmer/cowl? I can’t decide.
4. Contrary to popular belief in the comments to my last post, yes, I do sleep. :o) In addition to all that reallyreallyfast long draw spinning I did last weekend, I slept, I made red lentil stew, I shopped for groceries, I went to SB’s 20th high school reunion, I watched a football game, I washed the rest of the fleece and I did laundry. And slept some more.
5. I’m jealous that it’s snowing in some parts of Canada.
6. I’m jealous that my buds are going to SAFF this weekend. I thought it was next weekend or I probably would’ve figured out a way to go myself. Not that I need anything, except to see my peeps.
7. This cat will be the death of me.
He’s like the little girl with the little curl – when he’s good, he’s very very good and when he’s bad, he’s horrid. You’d think we’d get along fine.

Finish the socks, then get some more for a neckwarmer or mitts. Yes, that’s really the only way.
My cousin used to get so furious about those break-and-bake cookies commercials, where the mom did the narrating about how “now she could spend more time with her boys”. My cousin would just turn purple and shout, “Mixing cookie dough and baking cookies IS spending time with your boys, you TWIT!” My FIL loves them, though – he buys them and bakes a couple in the toaster oven every day, so he always has fresh cookies. He thought we were nuts when we said we could never live without our toaster oven, until we bought him one.

OH NO!!! I was hoping to give you a real-time hug this weekend at SAFF! I will miss you!
The sock looks fabulous! A neck warmer would be lovely, too. If you feel like ripping, go for a new project. I think your kitty likes to sleep on roving. I can understand that. ;-)

lol Ah, but the whole reason I buy the pre-formed cookies is so that I’m not tempted to eat the leftover dough. Although, it wouldn’t matter with all the Halloween candy I’ve been sneaking. Ugh.

Mack! He looks like a passed out drunk. I imagine he probably was drunk on wool fumes.

Looks like one of my cats. I can’t seem to keep them out of my yarn lately!!
The socks are gorgeous, keep going!

I would frog the socks and make something for your hands… maybe some plain gloves because the yarn is just so pretty it doesn’t really need a stitch pattern to compete with. I wish you were going to SAFF!! The cat looks like it’s in heaven!

Why did you have to show pictures of cookies? Good thing I’ve got some chocolate chunk in the kitchen, or I’d be shaking my fist at you.
Lovely socks!

1. I can’t justify paymore more for less cookie, ergo I have never purchased preformed cookies.
2. I have been having this same problem. I don’t think it’s economy related, I think it’s hobby related…..
3. I think those socks are why to pretty to frog.
…
6. I cannot wait for SAFF. Sorry to hear that you won’t be there.
7. Cats…I have two…they will be the death of us all.

oh no! there is smooshing of fiber in #7. bad kitty! (but he looks rather smooshy himself….how can ya blame him?)

Come shop with me, I’ll help you with that guilt/anxiety/whatever it is, for sure. Life is too short to pass on new shoes, definitely.
LOVE that yarn! Whether it’s a sock or a cowl, it’ll be great. But I agree, I’d want more people to see it than let my feet have all the fun.
October 24th, 2008 @ 11:07 am
Ohhh…..if only I could roll in fiber like the cat!! LOL!!!
LOVE the socks!!!
October 24th, 2008 @ 1:07 pm
i am so with you on those cookies!
October 26th, 2008 @ 7:38 am
I would frog and make into mitts or a lovely cowl. That yarn is gorgeous. :)
Cute kitty and as to the pre-form cookies and shopping, I get you.

Awwwww, kitty snuggling the fleece! So cute! If I were there, there would be petting and kissing. I know, I’m easy.
You know, feet need to be clothed in beautiful things, too. What could be better than giving that gorgeous sock to the foot? I myself experienced the sock love for the first time this weekend and now that’s all my feet want. Keep it a sock!

Kitty LOVES fleece!!! :)
That is some seriously gorgeous yarn – but I think feet deserve pretty things too!

The socks will feel gorgeously smooshy on your feet and look great with sandals! Just make some wristlets or a light scarf to go with them, if you have enough.
Your SOAR experiences sounds fabulously wonderful, thanks for such indepth reports. Ed and I are hoping to be vendors next year when it’s to be just 3+ hours across the mountains. I’m so hoping!
