showing off

My silence on the blog does not mean that I haven’t been knitting.  It just means that I hadn’t taken any pictures, and I like to see a picture or two when I’m reading about knitting (not a requirement, per se, but appreciated), so I kept knitting and thinking ‘I really need to take a picture of this’ but then I’d get busy and I wouldn’t take any pictures, so I kept knitting and now I have a lot to show.

I finally got around to taking pictures, so here’s a big ol’ status update!

I knit a huge stack of squares for the Mystery Blanket.  25 to be exact.  They look really cool laid out next to each other, but you’ll have to wait to see because I didn’t take a picture of that.  I’ll make probably 23 more and this will be one big blanket.

The squares were just what I needed to get past my sweater ennui.  I finished sleeve two and am almost finished with the front.

I really love colorwork.  I’m going to try to finish the front tonight so while it’s blocking, I can work more on this:

My next sweater, from the handspun I made in July.  Which I think is really funny because a handspun sweater wasn’t even on the list of Sweaters To Knit in my last post!  But SOAR is coming up (I’ll be there one month from today!!!) and a handspun sweater seems to be in order.  I’m making up the pattern on the fly.  So far I’ve figured out that it’s in the round, bottom up, and I’m doing a 5×3 ribbing for a loooonnnnnng time.  Maybe 10″ long.  It’s modeled on the Cozy V-Neck Sweater but since I don’t have that pattern and I’m not planning to buy the book, it could turn out completely different!  Let’s just hope it turns out wearable.

So that’s what I’ve been up to.  What about you?

i feel the same way about blogging without photos: Illustration is always better! i have this problem with truly finishing things. it’s like once i’m 90% of the way done, i lose steam completely and put things down. so i really need to attend to those lingering projects before i entertain ideas of starting anything anew.

That will be one colorful blanket. I can’t remember – is it all handspun? The sweaters are going to be fantastic – I can’t wait to see them!

I have a baby sweater to seam, a sock for my mom to rip back considerably because I’m sure the gusset’s too small, and some angora/alpaca/silk/angelina just off the wheel that will be carried along with some dark brown Cormo (not yet spun) to make a cowl.

All to avoid getting back to spinning for a sweater, which is what I really want to be doing.

Oh. And I should get out the door and go to work!

glad to see you have been busy! and it sounds like a lot of fun to just sit down patternless and make a sweater–i can do that with a glove, but haven’t had the nerve to try something bigger. can’t wait to see it.

You have been a knitting fiend! :) All very cool stuff too – you have me so hankering for colorwork, that sweater looks gorgeous! Luckily there is some in my near future (hmmm, perhaps I should not speak to soon, the title of your last post could so easily apply to me as well).

You are going to have such an awesome time at SOAR – I am SO EXCITED for you!!
