wip it out wednesday

Ha, I wonder how much more spam that title will generate!  Couldn’t possibly be more than what I’m currently getting.  I had no idea so many fetishes existed.  Ahem.

Okay, so thank you for all the comments on my last post!  I’ll have to keep that soap box handy; I enjoyed reading everyone’s opinions and I really think if we were in charge of the world, it’d be a happier, healthier, better place to live.

But it’s time to get back to the purported purpose of this blog and show you guys what I’ve been working on.

I finished the second 6 oz. of the Fat Cat Knits fiber.  I have a little over 1,000 yards and am still looking for the perfect pattern for a handspun sweater.  I saw this over on Drops yesterday (btw, that link will take you to their fall collection and they have several really cute patterns this season):

I find the construction intriguing, particularly the vertical striping, but I’d have to see if I have any coordinating yarn for the bands and collar.  It’s just a thought right now.

While I’m thinking it over, I’m knitting Aibhlinn, which I will never be able to pronounce.

Following the lead of many Ravelers, I cast on 101 stitches and am using two balls of Tahki New Tweed that I bought when I first started knitting.  Back when I thought 200 yards would be enough for a scarf – remember those days?  Ah, innocence and naievete, thou hast forsaken me!

And I’ve knit a sock.

Spring Forward (again from Knitty) that I had no interest in knitting whatsoever until I saw Turtlegirl’s tonal version and knew it’d be perfect for the ShiBui yarn in my stash.  These will be a Christmas present for my mom, I believe.

I just have to knit the second one…

    Euww, you said Christmas. ;-)
    Pretty socks.
There’s a pronunciation of that pattern in the first line of the description on Knitty. You just need to memorize it and realize that Celtic pronunciation of those letters is not even on the same planet as English pronunciation.
Goodness, there are some cute things on Drops today. I LOVE that dress with the fair isle band.

love that yarn. is it my imagination, or just my PC screen, but is that a bit of orange peeking out of your blue and brown spun yarn? maybe it’s supposed to be brown. but looks orange in my browser. oh well. fun fun fun!

Thanks for your comment about Racing Colors over on KnitMe. The Silkworker’s silks are so beautifully prepared that the fiber itself is eye candy and a joy to spin. I love your handspun skein, for its bounce and for the way the colors play through it. Nice work!

Your yarn turned out great and Drops has so many fantastic patterns. (if only I were a faster knitter!)

I think I might be missing out on a lot since I am not so active on Ravelry. Maybe I’ll change that if I ever have more time.

Love the handspun and the socks! They strangely remind me of Donny Osmond, but I really like them. Heading to Drops now…
