HOME!

Yes, I’m a little excited to be home! I was wandering around Sunday with Glen Campbell’s Homeward Bound playing in my head, thrilled to pieces to be back. There’s something comforting in knowing you can walk from the shower to the bedroom naked if you want to (or if you’ve forgotten your robe) and that your tattered blue robe will be waiting for you, hanging on the closet door with your lace shawls on one side and hiking gear on the other.
Familiar surroundings are nice. Vacation is nice too, but there’s nothing quite like home, to paraphrase Dorothy.
This is my favorite vacation picture:
Sweet, huh? He’s growing up so fast. Hard to believe he’s going to be in seventh grade. I know puberty will make things interesting when it hits, but I hope he keeps some of that little boy sweetness and makes good choices. You worry so much about your kids when they’re little, but I think you worry more about them the older they get.
I got a LOT of knitting done.
These socks were my beach knitting, and my ride home knitting, and were finished during a marathon of mindless tv (America’s Next Top Model, via VH1, which I don’t even like, but I got sucked in).
The yarn is Yarn Pirate’s Primrose colorway, 480 yards and I used all but about ten. I won this in a contest Jennie had last fall – thanks girl! She’s making the prettiest stitch markers now, I need to visit her etsy shop and order some!
There’s about 50 rows of ribbing on those cuffs. They were truly the socks that wouldn’t end, but I was determined both to finish and to use as much of the yarn as possible!
I am very close to finishing another project I started at the beach, and for a teaser, here’s the one and only in-progress shot I took:
I hope to finish these up this week, get them blocked and properly photographed. I am in love, to say the least.

I love the socks. I would never have the courage to make a pair that long. I usually lose interest somewhere around the heel of the first sock (true grit and determination gets me through an entire pair.) And those are the most perfect heels I’ve ever seen…short row?
Your little boy is a cutie. I would definitely say things will get “interesting” when puberty hits (and girls come into the picture.)
Which beach did you go to? Did you say and I can’t remember?

It’s nice to have you back! The socks are impressive and beautiful…the mittens are bound to be, too.

That boy… will be a killer. In a good way, of course. Good luck with fending off the girls :-)
Great socks, great secret project. Isn’t home the best?

I have a Yarn Pirate sock OTN right now and I love it.
Unfortunately, Hubby has size 14 feet. Talk about the socks that never end!

Nice socks! Are they knee high length? And the WIP is a Selbuvotter mitten? Pretty.

Cute boy photo. Nice socks. The mitten is really impressive. Mine was too small on my first and only attempt, and I frogged it. I have a sock going for DH’s size 13 feet. I need to ask you about Nikon software when you have a moment.

Your son is gorgeous! Seriously.
Knee highs!?! Right on. You did get a lot of knitting done. They look great.
Can’t wait to see those gloves finished. I would think it would take a lot of patience to make all those fingers. Sheesh. Good for you.
Welcome home. (now that song is in my head)
