no business posting

Do you ever feel guilty posting when you know you have 25+ emails to send in reply to comments to previous posts?  I do.  But I’m posting anyway, because I can post from work, but I can’t email from work!

I got in a good bit of spinning this weekend.

21 micron merino I ordered from Miss Babs.  I liked the colorway so much, I also ordered sock yarn in the same colors!

The first bobbin was spun by tearing long thin strips with no pre-drafting.  The second bobbin I spun by splitting the roving in half and predrafting the heck out of it for really long stretches of color.

Is there anything prettier than a big pile of pre-drafted fiber?  I think not.

The finished yarn – 360 yards of mostly sportweight.  It’s very soft and I think it’d make great…socks…to match the ones I’ll knit from the sock yarn in the same colorway…um, maybe I need to think this through again!

It was good to get back to my wheel.  I bought some hard-to-get fiber (Pigeonroof Studios and FatCatKnits!) from someone destashing on Ravelry and I’ve been anxiously watching the mailbox for almost a month now.  It’s coming from Canada, so customs is likely to blame.  I’m really eager for it to arrive as I’m saving money in hopes of getting to go to SOAR and can’t justify ordering more right now.  Knitters should run the post office, you know?  We’d get those important packages through!

I also got a bit of knitting done, and some cooking and gardening!  It was a busy weekend.  My get-healthy plan is going great; I feel so much better now that I’m actually moving!  I have more energy and I swear, my pants are a tiny bit looser than normal.

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Isn’t that called Fractal spinning or something like that? I swear I read about that technique somewhere. It looks great, though! You’ll either need to make your daughter some matching socks out of it, or some other cool accessory for yourself.

Love your new handspun! Very nice colors. I’m sure customs has it in for us knitters and spinners, because I’ve been waitign for a month now, for some knitting books ordered in the US. FatKatKnits is hard to get now? I have a lot in stash from her, but I always had to pay duty, when she sent packages up here, never with others, so I stopped buying from her. Hope your package will arrive today!!! :o)

    Such beautiful colours!
Look at that stunning yarn — though I am partial to the predrafted fibre too.

You can read between the lines how well you are liking your new healthy program. Well done!

Those colors are very distinct, should make nice socks. It’s too bad spinning and knitting don’t use up any calories, congratulations on the exercise.
