no knittin, no spinnin

I haven’t done squat this week.

Well, that’s not entirely true.  I haven’t done anything fibery.  I’ve been consumed with healthy-ing up my life, cooking and planning meals and exercising and reading books whose message all boils down to the same thing:  you are what you eat.

DSC_0052-11.JPG

This is a fair representation of what I’m eating.  Looks good, eh?  I’m trying to eat label-free as much as possible.  It’s only day three and I already feel tons better.  My mind is thinking like a skinny person and I know my body will catch up to my mind with time and hard work.

When I talked about being fat in my last post, I wasn’t fishing for compliments.  It’s simply a fact.  I have WAAYYY let myself go over the past several years, and have really ballooned up over the last year.  I got lazy, I got comfortable, I quit smoking, I had hormone issues.  There are 100 excuses, but the fact is – I hate feeling this way, I hate looking this way, I hate that everything I think and feel about myself is filtered through the fact that I’m fat.  It’s gotten to the point that I don’t want to go places where I may run into people who knew me when I was skinny.  Do I sound depressed?  You betcha!  Depressed that I’ve let it get this far, but I am depressed no more.  I am active.  I am doing something about it.  I am determined to be in control of my body, be healthy, be able to do the things I want to do without the burden of extra pounds.  This is not a 21 day detox and then I quit.  This is for life.  And the next time?  The next time my jeans are a little tight?  I won’t be buying new ones like I did through four sizes until my skinny jeans are a distant memory.  I’ll be hitting the gym harder, eating more salads, and doing what it takes to keep the weight off.

I hope to get back to my knittin’ and spinnin’ soon, but right now, I’m focused on getting healthy and making exercise my routine, which is cutting into my fiber time.  I’m sure I’ll find a balance soon and there will be time to do everything, because I am missing my knitting and spinning is therapeutic.

Thank you for your patience, and thank you for reading.  I really appreciate everyone who takes the take time to read, and to comment.  You guys are the best!

Have you ever seen such a beautiful tomato?  It tasted as good as it looked.  And I’m going to the Farmer’s Market first thing Saturday morning for a bunch more!

Eating fresh, unprocessed food is the easiest way to keep a healthy diet. Staying away from anything “made” by someone else (conglomerates especially)has made my life easier, healthier and yummier. ;-) Good work…keep it up!

    Eeeeuwwww, tomatoes are yucky. ;-)
I swear, if all you people keep getting healthy, I’m going to be all alone with my twinkies. (Woohoo, more for me!)

Get me some salt and pepper for that tomato quick! I applaud the lifestyle change- hard work, but your body will thank you. I also applaud your ability to photograph food and make it look appetizing. I can’t get the hang of that one.

You go girl! I’m moving in the same direction but I’m finding it hard to get motivated. My tomatoes will get potted this weekend so I’ll have my own fresh ‘matoes to look forward to this summer. I’ve got extra, do you want me to send you a one? BTW, I’ve memed! It was fun!

OH MY GOD ME TOO!!!! On all fronts. Except I’m… not doing shit about it really, yet.

Okay, if you can do it, I can do it.

But my not-negotiables are beer, and cream in my coffee. Other things… those can change. Beer and cream in my coffee? Can’t go.

YAY!!! I’m so excited for you! And, that’s a GORGEOUS tomato, btw. The ones around here are pale red at best and taste pale, too. AND…They are about $3.49 per pound!

    That’s awesome! Good for you.
My health mojo has fled but I am going to just act like it’s here for now and wait for it to catch up to me.

Now – I have to know what kind of salad that is in the top picture. Please, please share the recipe?!
