a little meme

Abby tagged me for a meme, and just in time too, cause I need to take and upload pictures to have any on-topic blog content!
1. What was I doing ten years ago? Professionally – the same thing I’m doing now, which really depresses me! Personally – my son was two, I was living in the suburbs and was obsessed with gardening. I’ve always been obsessed with something, it seems, and I’ve always dreamed of turning my obsessions into a paying career, but haven’t yet figured out how to do so (or been willing to make the necessary sacrifices). I was a completey different person ten years ago, at least on the outside. I’m much happier now!
2. What are five things on my to-do list today? Today is the first day of my new life, so to speak. (1) Today I am eating healthily. (2) I am going to walk for at least 30 minutes, hopefully longer. (3) I am going to the store to stock up on healthy foods. (4) I am going to fold and put away my clean laundry. (5) I am going to think positive, supportive thoughts about myself instead of focusing on how fat I am and how much I dislike myself for being fat.
ETA: Apparently Orpah is doing the same 21 day cleanse!
3. Snacks I enjoy? Wasabi soy almonds! Port Salut cheese and a crusty baguette. Fresh fruit – all kinds except for melon fruits. I’ve never developed a taste for melon fruits, the closest I can get is watermelon candy. Popcorn.
4. Things I would do if I were a billionaire? First I’d pay off all our bills and my daughter’s student loans. I’d fund SB’s Appalachian Trail Thru-Hike. I’d travel extensively, then buy a house in the country and live modestly.
5. Places I have lived? I was born in a one-stoplight town in Southern Indiana. When I was about two, we moved to California, then back to Indiana, then to Texas, then to Oklahoma City where I started grade school and we lived until I was in the fifth grade. We moved to Illinois for half of sixth grade and then back to my one-stoplight town, where I lived until I moved to Alabama about 20 years ago. Wow. I can’t believe I’ve been here that long! I always planned to move back to Indiana but never got around to it.
6. Peeps I want to know more about:
Cyndy - who has the set-up I’d have if I won that billion dollars
Becky - who I haven’t known long but clicked with instantly
Prudence – who just finished a handspun Gathered Pullover!
If you want to play along, consider yourself tagged, but no pressure.

You don’t even like watermelon? I mean the real thing. I’m having trouble getting past that.

yeah, i kind of feel depressed that i’m in the same place professionally as i was 10 years ago. i’m a librarian. love books, but don’t get to work much with them at all. would prefer work that is more creative. how about you? what do you imagine yourself doing professionally in the next ten years?
