I’d like you to meet Maude

She’s a dummy. She has no ears, so it doesn’t offend her when I call her that. She’s a little sumpin-sumpin I found on Craigslist for forty bucks. Even though she does not adjust to my current measurements, I saw her as a good investment and incentive to get down to HER measurements. I can’t have a dummy showing me up, can I? I don’t want to come home one day and find SB and Maude having cocktails. Lounging in the hot tub. Dancing the Rumba.
Why yes, she IS sporting a finished Hexacomb Cardi! I decided on a whim to finish it last Friday. It didn’t take any time and I really like the way it looks. Just not on me. Maude can keep it for awhile. Maybe she’ll fix the buttons for me – they’re too heavy and don’t look quite right. For the time being, though, I’m considering this DONE!
Pattern: Hexacomb Cardi from the 2008 Spring Interweave Knits, size 38 3/4
Modifications: I knit the body 3″ longer than the pattern specifies.
Yarn: Artful Yarns by Cliche from Webs, about 6 balls main color, 1 ball contrast
Thoughts: I really like this yarn. It has a good amount of twist to it, so it’s not splitty for a cotton/linen/acrylic yarn. I’d buy more if I weren’t already drowning in yarn. The pattern was easy and seaming wasn’t so horrible, once I got a proper seaming needle (with the bent tip – it made ALL the difference!). Weaving in the ends, yeah, that wasn’t fun with the contrasting edges, but I’ve had worse. All in all, it’s a pretty sweater, it fits me, I just don’t like how it looks on me. Maybe I haven’t found the proper undershirt yet, I don’t know.
At any rate, I’m happy to have FINISHED it. And I’ve already started something new…

Hey, my dress form is named Maud, and is OK, except for larger bust, hee hee. Garments need ease, right? Yours has a very nice sweater.

I think your sweater AND Maude are lovely! I think it highly respectable that you rescued her from that awful Craig.
p.s. You know I can throw you a line with all that yarn you’re drowning in, right?

Your cardigan is awesome – Maude’s a great find too.
I think the buttons look good. Maybe it’s different in real life?
