lace and I are having a fling

it’s probably just a summertime thing
truth be told, it’s the blocking that does it for me
those crisp points are so pleasing
it makes me happy just to look at them
Do you blame me?
Pattern: Forest Canopy Shawl
Yarn: Mariposa colorway, Malabrigo Lace, which held up to blocking better than I expected. Still, this is a delicate shawl and will be handled carefully.
Needles: US 4, Hiya Hiya circs
Thoughts: What a great pattern. So easy to visually follow along, very intuitive. I did a few more repeats of the main body and could have done more, I had plenty of yarn, but I intend to wear this as a scarf so I made myself stop.
Next up: I’m going to FINALLY finish this.
It’s been on the needles since last March. Aught Seven, that is. And it’s out of HANDSPUN, Carrie. Nyah.
My only concern is: will I be able to match my gauge?

That is really lovely. Now, tell me where down south you plan to wear that shawl at this time of year. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.) It’s gorgeous, as is the handspun project. Even a blue handspun project is beautiful. ;-)

Mmm. Just so beautiful. Your Forest Canopy is such a gorgeous color for the project. So Foresty and Canopyee. heh I agree about the ease of the pattern. So intuitive – I swear I could make it over and over and never get tired of it. But with the blocked points my kids keep telling me it looks like I’m wearing a spider web. Ugh. Kids.

Beautiful shawl!

I love the blue. You have to finish it so we can see what it looks like. I have yet to try lace but I’ve been tempted by so many beautiful shawls I may fold like a house of cards. My problem is my project queue is so long, I don’t have enough time to do everything. I have a shawl of my own design I haven’t finishing spinning the yarn for, the shawl pattern in the current issue of Spin-Off, several pairs of socks… You get the idea. :-)

What a wonderful fling – That shawl is lovely!! I love the colorway, and those crisp points – blocking lace is so awesome. I can’t wait to see the other!

Your shawl is stunning!! Those crisp points indeed.
What an incredible job you’ve done – especially considering the mess you had to begin with. Eek – I would have totally given up on that mess for winding.
