just talk, and random talk at that

1. Wasn’t there supposed to be another week in March? How is it that when you’re young, you spend all your time waiting for things to come (summertime, Christmas, the cute boy down the street to notice you) and when you’re older you spend all your time wondering where the time went?
2. I’ve been busy, but I have absolutely no pictures to show for it. I’m halfway done seaming the Hexacomb Cardi. Seaming is a stressful activity for me on a good day and seaming cotton is really no fun. It’s not forgiving like wool and a badly sewn seam will matter more. I still need to get buttons and am thinking of going on a vintage button hunt at the thrift store today. It’s half-price Wednesday, ya know!
3. I really hate posting without photos. Lately, it’s been hard to post at all. I feel like I’ve been posting on the run, that I have a lot to say but not a lot of time in which to say it. I throw up a few pictures and minimal commentary and the blog becomes a boring record of here’s what I’m knitting, here’s what I’m spinning, blahblahblah. Boring. Sorry for that.
4. One of the best feelings in the world is driving down the road with the windows open and the wind whipping your hair around your face. It doesn’t even get in your eyes because you’re wearing sunglasses so you just let it go. Deal with the tangles later.
5. I started a new project – Lady Eleanor Stole from Scarf Style. I taught myself how to knit backwards so I wouldn’t have to turn every 8 stitches which is, I think, the key to not losing your mind while knitting entrelac. It looks really good so far. I’ll have to take a pic. I’m using the same yarn as That Laurie but making the regular size.
6. I really love having a blog. I love saying that I have friends in Arizona and Canada and and California and Michigan and Georgia and Indiana and Wisconsin and Utah and Massachusettes and Kansas and all over the place! I mean really – how cool is that?
7. Spring in Alabama is in full force. Highs today in the mid 70s. Before you northerners get all mad at me – keep in mind that our pollen counts are also off the chart and in another month I’ll be moaning about the 156% humidity – and your spring and mild summer will just be beginning. And I’ll be all mad at you. ;o)
8. I’m seriously considering ditching SAFF this year and going to SOAR. The chance to take a three day spinning workshop with Abby is too good to pass up. I started spinning her August batt club blend of merino/bfl/tussah silk/camel/yak last night. I can’t even tell you how luxurious this stuff is. I could show you but I’m lame and didn’t take a picture. It is instant relaxation to sit and spin this fiber.
9. I think tomorrow I’ll post coordinating pictures for all these random ramblings. Or most of them, anyway!
10. I don’t have a number ten. So I’ll wish you a happy Wednesday!

I’ve missed you! It’s mean to rub our noses in the fact that you have spring and we do not. Windows down? NOT Spring in any force, especially full force? NOT Yesterday was the coldest April day EVER…mother natures joke on us poor fools.
I’m looking forward to your pictures tomorrow.

It’s been verging on hot here. Not a fan. Where have my months gone? I completely understand what you mean about the time speeding away. It doesn’t help that I have planned deadlines all the way through next year. (And still not enough time to finish everything!) I haven’t managed the brain power to post in a while, and I don’t see things slowing down either – I wish I could get by on less sleep!

Oh, never boring, never! I wanted to go to SOAR so bad this year, but a dear friend is getting married on the 4th and my husband is performing the ceremony, so we have to be there. Maybe 2009?

I wish I could afford SOAR. This year I may be lucky to go to SAFF. :(

6. Blogging is really nice in finding friends I might actually see in person cause they are kinda nearby
7. Yeah, the pollen is back on everything after the downpour washed it off.
5. I can knit back’erds, but I just can’t do the k2 tog backwards where you join the rectangles –can you do that?

Posts without pics are fine! If I’m in Southern Indiana, does that mean I’m considered a “Northerner”? Just curious. I don’t necessarily think so, but we’re not exactly in the south, either. But our summers aren’t mild, so I’m not sure. I mean, ours may be mild compared to yours, but then both are considered mild when compared with somewhere in South America or something.
Whew. Too much thinking, sorry~

“One of the best feelings in the world is driving down the road with the windows open and the wind whipping your hair around your face. It doesn’t even get in your eyes because you’re wearing sunglasses so you just let it go. Deal with the tangles later.” One of my favorite things to do when the weather turns nice :)
And SOAR is so incredibly tempting…. Someday I WILL go!
