feather and fan comfort shawl

My willing assistant was thrilled to model my latest FO – can’t you tell by the pout on his face? Ha! I cast on for this Monday afternoon, after I emerged from a Nyquil stupor. I wanted something simple enough to wrap my brain around, but pretty enough to show off the yarn.
I am in love with this shawl. The subtle tone-on-tone colors of the yarn (50% merino, 50% silk) are just perfect for this pattern. There’s a flickr group with lots of inspiration; some really wonderful shawls made from handspun and variegated yarns such as Noro.
This shawl is a gift for my MIL’s birthday in April – so I’m ahead of the game for once. I’m able to give it up only because it’s her favorite color and I ordered the yarn specifically to make something for her AND because I’ve ordered the last two skeins of this yarn (in watermelon pink!) from Miss Babs and that will be mineminemine!
I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! If I can shake this sinus infection, we’re going to the woods; otherwise, there will be lots of knitting and spinning for me and a new series to try out!

Lovely! We are heading off to the lake ourselves, so I hope you get to go off and commune with nature too! I have three socks-in-progress and one scarf packed for the weekend – do you think it’s enough? :-)

It’s a beautiful shawl. I’ve got a sinus infection, too. Ugh!

I’m sort of trying to save up a bunch of handspun to make this pattern. I love yours!

Sooooooo pretty! Tell D. that the color actually suits him well; as much as I’m sure he doesn’t want to hear that. His coloring is perfect for it!

Your shawl is fantastic – and how great does that feel to be finished ahead of time?
I hope you feel better – at least well enough to enjoy Deadwood. It’s on my list too.

So beautiful! I’ve been reading awhile, trying to catch up with my hopeless unread feed load. The sweater is perfect, as is your fiber=life analogy. I hope you and the entire family are getting well and ready to enjoy the warmth of spring. I’m going to try to keep jamming blogs and blogging into my springtime. Kick my butt if I fall behind again!
