waiting room knitting

Thank you – everyone – for all your kind words!  My daughter is doing great and we’re so relieved.  She’s a quick healer, always has been – when she was little she stepped on a piece of glass at a babysitter’s house and had to have stitches in her big toe.  I could hardly look when they brought out the huge hypodermic needle to numb the toe; she not only watched, she didn’t even cry!  Tough girl, with a tender heart.  She amazes me.

Onto the knitting!  After my cable blip, my confidence needed a boost so I started a quick and easy sweater.

Can’t tell much from that, can you?  Here’s a little more of a hint:

Yes, more seed stitch.  At least the whole sweater isn’t seed stitch!  It’s the Drops 103-1 jacket, which I’d started back in September with bulky yarn and had gauge issues.  This go around, I decided to knit the worsted weight version, thinking it would be more flattering and work well with this yarn.  I’ve knit the back, both fronts, and I’m on the sleeve cap of the first sleeve.  I hope to finish the second sleeve this weekend, but that may not be possible because…

WE’RE GOING TO THE WOODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am so in need of it.  January has been horrendous.  Despite my resolution not to make any resolutions, I did have high hopes of living better (being organized, eating healthily, exercising) and like I do every January, I failed miserably on all fronts.  But today is February 1st, I brought my workout clothes for a lunchtime sweat-a-thon, a Lean Cuisine and healthy snacks.  Today is the first day of the year, as far as I’m concerned.  Hey, if the Catholics can change calendar dates, so can I!

Have a great weekend!

Yeehaw, that sweater will be pretty! I’m not sure what’s up with the resolutions thing – I mean, if we only made one resolution it wouldn’t be bad, but it seems like we’re pushed to overhaul our whole lives in one day. No wonder no one does it. I prefer to spread my “goals” out throughout the year, and do one at a time.

The sweater looks great! What is that knitting accessory I see…a stitch holder?

Good luck. This was a very simple pattern, but i had a hell of a time with it when i got to the sleeves. I love the finished project, but it really came out nothing like the original for me. I made major modifications in the shoulder area. I had big time gauge issues. Nightmare! So i wish you luck.

There’s something to be said for “good intentions”!!! Love the woods myself…..breath deep. Like your sweater so far.

I love that sweater and I am intrigued by the yarn. I have been looking at Donegal Tweed for a cabled cardigan but the color I wanted is discontinued. How does this Plymouth yarn feel to knit with? I want a fairly study yarn – I plan to wear this sweater while actually doing things outdoors. How do you think this would do? Any input you have would be appreciated. Thank you.
