Scriffin*

The Salvation Army store has half price clothing on Wednesdays.  I decided at the last minute to go there at lunch and see if they had any good furniture (even though furniture is not half price).  I am so sick of all the furniture in my house!  They had the usual fare – overstuffed, overworked sofas and particle board tables and I was about to leave when I decided to run through the coats.  Bingo!  I found three vintage coats.

This is the one I’m least likely to wear, not really being a ruffley kind of girl, but I loved the color and the tailoring and couldn’t pass it up.  It reminds me of a couple of blouses I had in the 80s.  I think it’d be cute if I weighed 97 lbs., wore my hair in a neat blond chiffon and accessorized with a tiny angora moebius scarf.  Obviously, I live in an alternate reality.

HOWEVER, I ask you this:  how many coats send you good wishes?

Ahhh…cloth labels!  This thing is packed with good karma.

Next is a woman’s London Fog jacket with a zippered, removable lining.  Definitely polyester, but with nice lines.  It has a couple of spots, but should clean up nicely.

And this is a nice man’s London Fog jacket, fully removable lining, detachable hood, complete with belt and extra buttons.

Three gently-used, classic coats for $16.97.  How could I NOT buy them?!?

There were two boxes of Today sponges sitting on the checkout counter.  I don’t even think Elaine would stoop to buying sponges from the thrift store!  Who donates these things?  Some things should just go in the garbage!

I’ll be back soon with fiber content – my needles have been on FIRE this week!

*”scriffin” is what SB calls “thrifting.”  Don’t ask me why.  There’s no telling how he comes up with this stuff.

I have no clue how y’all get these things! The stuff in the thrift store near me needs to stay there. Perhaps they have some good thrift stores in Vegas….

Great scriffin! Who DOESN’T need a London Fog coat, is what my Nana would say! I think I had one of the ruffly ones, but mine was blue… I loved the 80′s :)

Ok, I admit the fact that I’m totally grossed out by the sponges… but the jackets are wonderful :) I never seem to have any luck at thrift shops lol.

Hooray – You are a good home for all of those coats! I don’t know which is worse… Today’s sponges at the thrift store, or the pregnancy tests I recently spotted at the dollar store…. (and I only looked b/c someone else said they had them at their dollar store and I couldn’t believe it.)
