the two week sweater?

If anyone scrolled to the end of Monday’s post, you might remember that I mentioned knitting a sleeve over the weekend. Well, now I have half a back…
It’s the Notre Dame de Grace Pullover from the Summer IK, which some people might think is “dated” but I prefer to call “classic.” :o) Actually, it looked like a really simple, fast knit and it’s turning out to be just that. It’s also something I see myself wearing a lot, a wardrobe staple.
I am questioning my yarn choice a little. I went with Lamb’s Pride because (a) it’s cheap and (b) it’s soft and (c) it’s cheap. I really like the shimmer of the mohair in the skein, but when it’s knit up, it can be a bit overwhelming.
…fuzzy wuzzy was a bear…
I have this vision of wearing the sweater with a white cotton collared shirt, tweedy gray slightly-cropped pants and black leather boots and looking svelte and sophisticated and totally put-together. I’m hoping the reality isn’t closer to Smokey the Bear in Drag.
There may be a small snag in this being a two week sweater, however. I need to rip back to where the paper clip is in the first photo. I added waist shaping and a little length to the body based on comments in Ravelry and I’m afraid doing so will cause me to run out of yarn. I am determined not to buy more and as I bought all six skeins that my LYS had and I really hate alternating between two dyelots, I really want to knit this sweater with what I have on hand. This has nothing to do with that box from Webs that arrived yesterday…I’ve taken to referring to yarn acquisitions as “clothes-in-the-making.” It’s the same as buying clothes, right? You just have to put them together!

Pretty! I suppose you can knit the thing, then if you run out of yarn, snip the cast on edge and unravel a bit from the bottom, and use that to finish up.

Wow, girl, you are whipping right through that! When I finally get around to this pattern, my fantasy outfit is the sweater in a loden green or chestnut tweed; white collared shirt; my long, brown twill gored skirt and my black riding boots. See, I really need to make this because I already have everything else in my wardrobe. It’s really just a matter of efficiency.

So very pretty. You are knitting that up quick.

Yes – classic is THE word! If you end up not liking the sweater, you could always felt the thing and MAKE it for a stuffed bear!

I’m always impressed by anyone knitting a sweater. I haven’t attempted sweaterdom yet as I
am always hoping to loose weight and I’d hate to spend all that time on something that I’m
just going to have to rip out ’cause it’s too big. Oh, and I really like how you think:
“clothes-in-the-making” is a wonderful rationalization. :-)

I think that sweater is a total classic – and it is going to look fabulous on you. The outfit you described sounds perfect.
I love the thought of calling stash clothes-in-the-making. :-)
