This might qualify as the first FO from a 2007 SAFF purchase!

Oh, you want to see them close-up?

Okay, okay!  How about a close-up of that heel?

 Just in time for Fall!

THE STATS

Yarn:  White Oak Studio’s Man Without A Name colorway, purchased at SAFF

Cast on LATE in the day, October 27, finished November 6

Basic sock recipe – started with 72 stitches and decreased to 64.  I could have decreased a little more, but these will probably tighten up a bit with washing.  I think I could have avoided the pooling with a pattern, even a simple rib, because the colors were striping on the 72 stitches 1×1 cuff, but with these socks, I didn’t really care that they pooled.  I just wanted to knit!  These were mostly knit sitting in traffic jams and red lights and during soccer activities.  They practically flew off the needles!

The yarn is awesome, Jana said she uses what is widely believed to be the same base yarn as Koigu and it felt like I was knitting with Koigu.  These socks are smooshy and soft and I can’t wait to wear them this weekend!

Those socks are very pretty. That partridge heel looks fab with that yarn! Is it difficult to do? Nice colorway, too.

You should call them your traffic light socks, with the time spent knitting them while stopped. Also the red, yellow, green colors mimic those very same lights.

p.s. Great minds think alike. I started my first Eye of Partridge heel on my Monkey socks cast on about the same time as your SAFF socks. Though, I still have a little left on the second sock.

p.s. I think that I will use the kool-aid method for the extra toe. After all that sock already has two colors on it. When you discover how many yards in a toe, let me know. I might need that calculation soon.

Awesome socks. I love the colorplay in the partridge heel. Thanks for your comment on my Twinkle Toes and Let’s Boogie socks. You would love woolen spinning-it’s so free and airy. The socks are cushy, too.

Gorgeous socks! I love the heel. Is the yarn fingering weight? I’ve only used sport weight for socks so far. Knitting socks with fingering kind of freaks me out because it seems like it would take FOREVER just to knit one sock. Once I get my fiber business up
and running, I’ll be making more socks! I certainly have the stash for it. :-)
