Can I tell you how much I hate knitting sleeves?

CIMG4192-1.JPG

They won’t get any longer, no matter what I do. I knit them a MINIMUM of 1.5 hours per day, steadily going round and round that Addi lace turbo size 5 needle (the one that turns my fingers black every time I use it), two sleeves at a time, and they absolutely refuse to grow.  I try them on every 12 rows or so – enough to see a difference you would think, but NOOOOO, they’re the same.  Or maybe 1/4″ longer, but 12 rows ought to be more than that!  I’m beginning to think my arms are freakishly long, growing longer by the minute, and perhaps I should have been an orangutan.  *sigh*

Okay.  I feel a little better now that I’ve gotten that little gripe out.  Thanks.

Now for this week’s edition of Food Fridays.  Last night I made Coconut Curried Tofu with Green Jasmine Rice.  I love Epicurious and I especially love reading the reviewer’s comments.  I get a lot of good ideas for modifications and some of the reviews are slap-dab funny.

I finally learned how to cook tofu properly!  Get the oil really hot, give the tofu a light dusting of Wondra, and voila!  It doesn’t stick to the pan and it gets crispy on the outside, just like at Surin

This is pretty fast to make, especially if you skip the green jasmine rice part and use plain jasmine rice.  I don’t think it would make that big a difference in the overall flavor, but it would cut your prep and cooking time in half.

It was yummy, especially with a glass of pinot noir!

Have a great weekend everyone!

*Today’s title was shamelessly stolen from SB.  But at least I gave him credit.

Two sleeves at a time… Makes the stay on sleeve island seem even longer. I’m there with you. My central park hoodie is totally stagnated at the sleeves. It’s like they won’t grow! And after the sleeves are done, I still have to do a hood. Big mistake for me.

Knitting them both at the same time I am sure feels like forever. Just think though when they are finally done they will both be done. Hopefully they will magically grow for you.

That’s kind of how I feel when I knit a sock on size 1s.

You’re in the black hole. You’ll knit for days and nothing will happen, but then one day you’ll come home from work and your sleeves will be four inches longer without your having knit another stitch. Besides, when you’re done with one, you’re done with both. Yeehaw!

That tofu dish looks so yummy. Sorry about the sleeve frustration… I feel your pain!

YUMMM!! That looks fabulous – thanks for sharing that recipe, we’ll have to give it a try!

Your sleeves look pretty at least!! I feel like I’m tinking and frogging as much as I’m knitting right now, so I feel your pain in the progress department!
