my cheatin’ heart

Y’all, I am so sick of thinking about this sweater. I need to stop thinking about it and just knit the damn thing. It’s not like I haven’t given myself breaks from it, either. I’ve spun. I’ve dyed. I’ve demonstrated spinning. I spun up three new colors this weekend because I convinced myself that I didn’t have enough colors for the yoke design (which is still undecided)! I’ve knit things I’ve not shown you – a hat for SB, two socks (non-matching, of course), a dishrag or two. I keep looking at fair isle patterns and trying to rev up my interest again and it just isn’t working.
Yesterday I did the unthinkable and cast on for ANOTHER sweater.
It’s this really awesome sweater from Garnstudio:
Gorgeous, huh? But if you really want to see a pretty version, you can go here, or here, or here! If you go to Flintknits – scroll down for her recipe for Brown Sugar Cookies – OMG, I made some this weekend and I would’ve taken a picture but we gobbled them up! I’ll never make regular sugar cookies again.
So anyway. Back to what I need to do, what I have to do, versus what I want to do. I have frogged the above sweater-start. I got perfect gauge with US 11s, but I was using those plastic straight needles and the yarn (Karabella Aurora Bulky) didn’t glide smoothly over them, it was tugged at and pushed around and as a result, my stitches are all over the place. Plus, now that I look at the above picture, it’s pretty obvious to me where I started knitting with a new ball and different dyelot. I bet you can see it too. I will cast on for this again, alternating dyelots and using US 10.5s because I like the fabric much better with a slightly smaller needle. It still has drape but doesn’t look like a fishnet. I don’t know how there can be such a difference between 11s and 10.5s, but there is.
But, as God as my Witless, I will not cast on again until I am finished with my SAFF sweater!
Really. I won’t. Probably not, anyway.

Keep in mind, Jen’s pieces were blocking and drying days ago! Stay strong, you can do it!

Of course, I have two sweaters, two socks, an entrelac scarf and a kids sweater for CIC, so I have no room to talk. I want to make more punkins and Mr. Greenjeans from the new Knitty AND I am leaving for ATL and Knitch real soon now.

“God as my Witless”? That’s brilliant. I think that means it doesn’t really count and you can cast on for as many projects as you want without getting struck down by lightening or anything like that. You are sneaky. :-)

What’s one more project? As long as you have available needles..

Listen, that Drops sweater — as you’ve doubtless already realized — hardly even counts. It takes, like *seconds* to knit. ;)

I just finished the Drops Jacket and it is SO WORTH IT!
As far as there being a huge difference between 10.5′s (7mm) and 11′s (8mm)–it’s true, because there is another size in between–10.75 (7.5mm). It’s not a US size, but all European needles have this size. That’s why there’s such a big jump in sizes.
Can’t wait to see your finished cardi on Ravelry:)

Can I correct myself. There are actually 2 sizes between 10.5 and 11.
10.5=6.5mm
10.75=7mm
10.78=7.5mm
11=8mm
Who knew! I should’ve checked my facts before posting!!!
