With a little help from my friends

The spinning demonstration was a success! I didn’t freak out, I talked to strangers about spinning and I even taught a painter how to spin. He was awesome, too, took to the wheel like a natural. Patrick (no link that I could find) was so funny – he said I must have the calves of a raquetball player from all the treadling. And yeah, my calves are looking alright … if I could just find a way to get the treadling benefits to travel up to my ass…
The best part of the day was all my friends who came to hang out with me! Darlene and Bibby came…
Those goofy girls! Grace and Debbie came, but I didn’t get their pictures because I was kinda busy spinning, you know. It was so good to see everyone, even if the wool did start to felt in my hands towards the end - it was HOT! I’m so glad Blogfree Ginny asked me to do this, it was a lot of fun and a good experience. Thanks, Gin!
Yesterday I did absolutely nothing – and it was so nice. I puttered around the house all day, did a tiny bit of housework, a little spinning, knit a dishrag (those things are addictive!) and watched a lot of Bridezilla. I hinted to SB that I really, really, really wanted some of his yummy cornbread, so he made some for dinner last night and rounded it out with steamed asparagus w/tomato vinegarette and baked bell peppers stuffed with cauliflower and cheese sauce! It was delicious.
The wine was good too. It was a good day, all around.
But today is a REALLY special day. Today is my funny, beautiful, smart, talented and much-loved sister’s 40th birthday!!!
Go wish her Happy Birthday! And drool over her cake! Apricot preserve filling? I want some! Happy Birthday, Jen. I love you, sis!

It was so good seeing you too. You’ve inspired me to get my wheel back out again. I’ve been on a knitting kick, but now I want to spin again. I wonder if I could clone myself so I could do them both at the same time….

Congratulations on making it through the spinning demo! I agree with Carrie, we knew you’d be fine.
Happy birthday to your sister (it’s my husband’s birthday today, too)!

I’m so glad it went well! I’m demoing in October and hoping I don’t suddenly forget how. Stop laughing! It might happen.

Dinner looks good, though not quite as good as Jen’s cake. I was not worried about your demo at all-knew you would do well.

Thanks sis! The cake looked good, sounded good in theory, but alas, I think it tastes like crap. So now we’re on our way to dinner & hopefully some really good, really fattening dessert!

Elizabeth – I’m so tickled to have met you Saturday. Your hand dyed yarn was beautiful & you really know your stuff! Thanks for working with me on the drop spindle & with your exquisite “Rose”.
Sorry about my big feet in that first picture. But, on second thought, maybe it’s payback for posting that glamorous 2nd picture!!! LOL

You are one busy lady! I can’t keep up with all your posts! I’m gonna have to take a day off to read everything:)
Love that spun stuff. You’re very talented.
