Ooh, flax! I have about 5 stricks in my stash. I’ve only spun a little, and it’s been years since I tried.

One year I made a homemade distaff out of a tree branch and used it with some flax and a drop spindle. I even took it to the Renaissance Festival to spin. Only problem was, the distaff with the fiber on it looked like a huge q-tip. I got several comments to that effect, which kinda spoiled the look I was going for. :)

Don’t feel bad; I’m still spinning for my sweater. I’m down to my last 2.25 oz of roving for it and I’m not convinced I have enough yarn, how’s that for suck?

Your rovings are beautiful. I bet the lack of softness goes away as soon as it’s a teeny bit predrafted.
