slowly but surely

Six bobbins spun.  The unlabeled bobbin will be plied with itself, however, as it is slightly darker brown (take my word for it) than the others.

Bobbins 1 and 5 are strapped into their seatbelts.

Let the plying begin!

I still have a long way to go, however.  I dyed 8 oz. of this brown wool a really pretty red over the weekend, so that will have to be spun, plus some white wool for accents and I have delusions of spinning some black alpaca to line the cuffs and neck with.  This Border Leicester/Romney mix softens up quite a bit in the wash, but it’s not next-to-the-skin soft.

Then once the spinning and plying and finishing are done, I have to think about the design I want to use and start swatching!  I have an idea or two in mind, whether or not they’ll work in real life remains to be seen.

Today is one of those Mondays where I really need another weekend.  Saturday night SB and I stayed at The Wynfrey, courtesy of my MIL who has some kind of membership that entitles you to a free night.  It would’ve been a lovely home-away-from-home experience if we had not been on the same floor as a group of wedding party partiers.  Our room was directly across from the ice machine, which didn’t help.  After several hours of doors slamming, people taking, arguments, crying bouts, and loud issuances of the sorority girl mating call (“I’m so druunnnnk!”), I called the front desk at 1:45 a.m.  It was the cartwheels and round-offs going on in the hallway that pushed me over the edge.  The bellman came up, settled things down, 30 minutes later they were at it again.  SB called the front desk again around 4:00 a.m. – same result.  I think they finally went to their rooms around 5:00 a.m.  Even though I got a great night’s sleep last night (home! my own bed! yay!), I’m still feeling whooped today.  I admit that I’ve partied a lot in my time (I sound like such an old geezer!) but I hope I wasn’t ever that inconsiderate.  Maybe I was and this was karmic payback.

But!  It’s a new week!  And there’s lots to be done!

I’m more vindictive than you are. I’d have banged on their doors and called their rooms incessantly starting at 6 a.m. Or just slit their tires.

EXACTLY Ginny! I would’ve sang at the top of my lungs AAAAALLLLL the way down the hall and back again about 20 times the next morning. OR…Made the sound of violent vomit, talked about greasy breakfast foods REALLY loud or whatever it took to enact my revenge.

Your yarn is such a lovely chocolate-y color. Do you have a separate bobbin for plying? it looks different than the others. What kind of wheel do you have? I combed your archives but all I found was a picture, not a name.

i know i was that drunk once … multiple times. and most likely that inconsiderate while being that drunk. although i never did cartwheels and backflips because i can’t.

but if it’s karma coming back to kick you in the ass, karma’s coming for them too one day.

Found you from Cass’s blog contest.

Your spinning is very lovely. I spin as well and just love it. I think I like it better than knitting. LOL I am excited to see the red that you dyed.
