Abby’s batt club

In case anyone’s wondering, the fiber crack in yesterday’s post is the July installment of Abby’s batt club, which I leaped onto as fast as my little fingers could type out an email!

This is her luxury sock batt, a blend of superwash wool, silk and sparkly nylon.  I can’t get a picture to do justice to the colors, but it wasn’t for lack of trying.

This is the first batt of singles spun up.  After seeing how pretty it is as a two-ply, all I can think of is LACE.  I know it was blended for socks, but I have someone on my xmas list who LOVES purple, and I can’t help but think this would make a lovely little lacey scarf.

I don’t know what name Abby assigned to this colorway, but if it were up to me, I’d call it Mermaid Hair.

Aw, c’mon.  You know you’d do it too!

Heh! I’ve never spun from a batt. Do you unroll it like that and tear off strips to spin? I’m itching to spin one of mine…

Oooh, that’s so pretty, and I’m not even a big fan of purple! I think it would make a great scarf – the sheen and the subtle variations in colors…

Best name ever, for this colorway! How do you prepare/spin batts? I’ve got 3 batts, but haven’t touched them yet. Thank god I couldn’t find where to sign um for Abby’s batt club, because I would have, and I have enough roving for a while, but still seeing yours, makes me want to have some too!

Gah! I hate that shipping to my address takes so long. I always see club fibers on everyone else’s blogs before it actually shows up in my mail! I guess at least I know what I have to look forward to. It’s lovely! And it makes perfect mermaid hair :)

I don’t know if it’s your superior skin care regime or just that certain mischievous glint in your eye, but I honest to God thought that was a picture of Drew with the mermaid hair. And here I always thought he looked like his father…

Oops! Sorry for the double post. I was trying to add an “n” to regime and somehow posted both the correct and incorrect spellings. Although the idea of a skin care regime is rather thought provoking. I could certainly back a candidate who campaigned on the platform of free sunblock and retinol! Beats our current options. Maybe I should call Michael Moore…
