Ideas for handspun projects

I love Flickr. So much inspiration, so many wonderful things people have created.

Jen asked what I was going to do with all my handspun and you know, I’ve been wondering the same thing. The colors are too varied for a wearable item larger than a scarf. I’m a pretty basic type of person when it comes to my wardrobe. Mostly solids. Mostly black. Terribly exciting.

I’ve been thinking for a long time that I’d like to have a shawl, or wrap, or some type of blanket/afghan to wrap up in, something to throw across my shoulders when knitting or reading in bed. This mosaic shows projects that strike my fancy, almost all of which are made from handspun yarn. I’ve added a couple of quilts for their design and colors. The deer I just liked. If you get a chance to look at any of Northlight’s photos (click on the deer picture), you won’t be sorry.

The mancub and I have big plans to paint the t.v. room and hallway this weekend – he’s actually excited about it! And he’s a good painter so I’m going to take advantage of that 11 year old energy. SB and I are going on a major shopping spree to the farmer’s market tomorrow morning and he’s determined to spend the 4th figuring out the food dehydrator he got me several years ago (it’s been out of the box ONCE. Good intentions and poor follow-through, that’s me!).  I hope to get some green tomatoes (to coat in buttermilk, cornmeal and a sprinkle of Tony Chachere‘s and fry up!), as well as a whole “mess” of squash, zucchini and Chilton County peaches.

But now all I want to do is crank up the AC and knit a handspun shawl/blanket/afghan.
