Wouldn’t you like to be a Pepper, too?

I’ve gone sign-up crazy!

I’ll be participating in Melanie’s new lace KAL!  Me and 3,000 other knitters.  Oy!  Funny thing is, I just bought Melanie’s Leda’s Dream pattern and started it on the drive to the beach with steel Zephyr from the stash.  I’m about six inches in, but I think I want to use the Zephyr for MS3, so a-ripping I will go.  Besides, my stitch count is wrong for the middle section of the stole, and I’d have to rip anyway or get over the wrongness and that’s not likely to happen.

I also signed up for Emily’s Dish Rag Tag!  How could I resist with a name like that?  Need to get some cotton yarn and a treat so I don’t slow down the team by having to take time to shop!  Maybe I should knit a practice dish rag too.

Sunday I spent some time spinning, just to make sure I hadn’t forgotten how.

This is Falkland wool, dyed by The Yarn Wench.  Incredible colors, I could learn so much from her!  I finished it up last night, using a technique Abby talked about recently – spinning the singles at a lower ratio and then increasing the ratio while plying.  The resulting yarn is REALLY bouncy and a bit overplied, but I think that’ll even out during finishing. Here’s what it looks like pre-finished:

I’ve been trying to spin a heavier weight yarn, and I guess it’s working because out of 4.6 ounces of roving, I only got 138 yards!

One more thing, and that’s a big shout out to Cheryl at Diva Knitting!  Cheryl had a kick-a contest recently and I won a prize!

Three skeins of Valley Yarns Berkshire, in my son’s FAVORITE color!  He was so happy when I asked him if he wanted me to make something for him out of it!  It’s a softly spun single, and I’d like to make him a sweater/jacket and use this green for a stripe.  Thanks, Cheryl!

Thanks for the great welcome back, y’all.  Vacation was nice, peaceful, relaxing, etc. but man!  There’s nothing like coming home!  I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to see my stuff, my house, my SPACE.  You know?  And I can’t even begin to tell you how much I missed *my people*!  Bunch of fiber wackos.  ;o)  But that’s okay.  I like being a Pepper!

LUUUV the yarn you dyed. I think I’d like to play with it before it’s finished. Not sure if you’re interested, but Hobby Lobby has Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn on sale for $1 a ball this week. Tons of different colors, too.
