Weights and measurements

Thanks for the nice comments about the one skein Koigu footies! I’ve written up the pattern and it’s on the right sidebar under “YMMV footies.” If anyone decides to knit it, please let me know how your socks come out!
Onto the title of this post. Today was our last day of Boot Camp! Hallelujah!!! I’m really happy that the early morning routine is over but I’m even happier that the grueling workouts aren’t quite as horrific as they were four weeks ago. During the first week of Boot Camp, I would lean on my 11 year old as we walked down our five porch stairs. I could hardly lift my arms to shampoo my hair. Four weeks later, I’m still sore but I have a lot more energy and I FEEL so much better – it’s really amazing the difference just moving that old body around can do. So let’s have a look at my numbers.
APRIL 16 MAY 10
Bust – 39″ 36″ -3″
Waist – 36.5″ 32″ -4.5″
Abdominal – 43″ 41″ -2″
Hips – 45″ 43.5″ -1.5″
Thigh – 25″/25″ 24″/23.5″ -2.5″
Calf – 15″/15″ 14.5″/14.5″ -1″
Arms stayed the same. :o(
TOTAL INCHES LOST: 14.5
TOTAL POUNDS LOST: 7
FAT PERCENTAGE LOST: 2%
TOTAL POUNDS OF FAT LOST: 6.5
I’m pretty happy. My indecently-tight pants aren’t quite as indecent and the biggest pair of pants I own are now baggy. I am proud of the work I’ve done, but I realize I have a long way still to go. I’ll do it. I’ll get there. I’m going to join the Y at lunch today and start my own Boot Camp – Session Two. This will last five weeks, until we go to the beach and I’ll only have myself to answer to, but getting in shape and being healthy is something I really, really want and I’m willing to do the work to get there.
Sorry for all the self-indulgence, and thank you to everyone for all your support! This really is a life style, the whole eating healthy and exercising thing. It’s definitely worth it.
Since a post without pictures is hardly a post at all, here’s some pretty fiber I dyed last weekend!
As you can see, I’ve been experimenting with tone-on-tone. I love subtle color variations and these should make some really nice yarns! I hope to spend some time spinning on Sunday. I think it being Mother’s Day that I should be able to indulge myself in whatever manner I please. Mimosas, spinning, knitting, napping, dyeing and lounging in pajamas all day is pretty much what I have in mind. Sounds good, yes?

Congratulations on the hard work! Quite an accomplishment. I have been feeling sluggish lately myself, but I’m not quite ready to join a boot camp. ;-)

Rock On!! You really have done a fabulous job! I’m a sporadic yoga student and have been really trying to work consistently on my home practice – it’s hard I tell you. So, boot camp?! I am so impressed. The results must be so motivating. You”l be churning through those trails!
Oh, and before I forget to mention – your fiber is just beautiful, what gorgeous colors!

Your results are great! (both at boot camp and in the dye pot!)

I’m impressed at how much weight you lost in just 4 weeks! Fabulous job!
It looks like you had some fun dye sessions. The colors are all gorgeous, but I think the top roving is my favorite. I’m interested to see how the colors hold up after spinning.

What a great accomplishment!!!! You are far more dedicated than I am….keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing the spun yarn from your roving!!
