and by the color….er….ahem…..um….you pick one!
Sorry for the crappy indoor photography shots, it’s really overcast today. Here are the specs:
Chevron Scarf knit with two contrasting colors of Koigu. I don’t know the color numbers but might be able to find a tag if someone really needs to know. Size 3 needles. Unblocked – 54″, blocked (by ironing, yes, that’s right, I took a hot iron to my HANDKNITS, send in the knit police) it measures a respectable 63″. I forgot to measure the width but I’d say it’s 6-7″ wide. The stitch pattern I used is here in a previous entry.
“f” and “o” have something else to do with today’s post. I lost FOUR POUNDS OF FAT!!! Yep, this morning was measurements, weigh-in and fat evaluation, and while I only lost one pound on the actual scale, the little do-hickey you hold that sends an electrical pulse through your body and measures the percentage of fat that you are says I’ve lost FOUR POUNDS OF FAT! Which means I’ve dropped 1% of my body fat since signing up for Boot Camp. Not a ton, but I’m not going to argue with it. It’s only one pound on the actual scale because I’ve gained three pounds of muscle. Yay! Muscle burns fat and raises your metabolism so I am all for the muscle. My goal is to beat those numbers at next week’s evaluation!
Thanks to all for your support and encouragement! I wouldn’t say that getting up at 4:15 is fun, but I think I’m getting used to it. I have become so much more aware of what I’m putting into my mouth and it has been fun trying out new recipes and new products (have you tried quinoa? It’s awesome! Slightly nutty, we cook it in veggie broth and it’s a great substitute for rice. Plus, it’s a whole protein!). This whole eating-right thing has SB and I back in the kitchen, chopping up veggies and cooking together, and that’s a place we’ve wanted to get back to for awhile. I still miss wine, but my splurge (we’re allowed one per week) was having two Budweisers and a S’mores while camping so maybe this week I’ll have a glass of wine as my treat. We may have to open a bottle of Bourgogne we brought back from our honeymoon!
The thought is enough to keep me going for the rest of the week.

YAY FOR YOU!! You lost FOUR POUNDS of fat! I totally love the idea of globbing up four pounds of Crisco or something and just looking at it. The visual is so motivating! Who wants to think about four pounds of that mess being trapped inside your body? UGH!? After the spider thing I guess you can tell I’m a very visual person, hm? hehe
LOVE your Chevron Scarf!! Gorgeous. My favorite thing about these Chevron Scarfs is how much they resemble patchwork in the color sense. Random and comfortable. So how many skeins of Koigu is that? I have a few random skeins of Koigu that I might like to use for a project like that.

The scarf is gorgeous! It’s been on my to-knit list since LMKG came out. Just have to pick some yarns.
And yay for less fat. :) 4:15 is *really* early. Just about my bedtime…

Congratualtions on the four pounds – great job!
The scarf looks great! I can’t believe ironing it increased the length so much. I’ll have to remember that.

Beautiful scarf. But even better than that, hooray for losing four pounds! I bet it’s nice to see that your early mornings and hard work are already paying off!

Congrats on the finished scarf and the four pounds lost! My mom bought me a box of quinoa but I haven’t tried cooking it yet–she got it as I’ve been trying to watch my protein intake better (I’m a lazy vegetarian).

4 lbs of fat!! Right on. That is brilliant. You have got to love the technology that lets you know the work you are doing is having an affect. It is great that there are more ways than the scale to measure progress.
Keep it up. Boot camp sounds excellent.
