camping pictures

This weekend we took Drew to his favorite campsite on the Pinhoti Trail.  The hike in was only three miles and was an easy hike, but I think with the 30 lb. backpack I was carrying, it qualifies for my required hour of cardio, at least!

Here are just a few pictures.

Also – I finished my Chevron scarf!  I have to block it tonight and make sure it’ll be long enough.  It’s 53″ now, so I think it’ll be fine.  I hope so, because after knitting this scarf in Koigu, I have been fantasizing about little Koigu anklets to wear with sandals this spring.  Finishing an object entitles one to begin another, correct?

It looks like you had a wonderful weekend! I love hiking, and I appreciate you sharing the pictures you took with us. There is just something about being out there in the forest with all of these beautiful things around that makes me so happy!

Love the hiking pics – especially the unfurled fern (tangent – doesn’t that sound like the title of an Edward Gorey sort story?) and Drew crouching at the water. For my two bits I say the baby snake is a copperhead not a water moc. Unless, of course, the baby water mocs coloring varies vastly from the adult.

LOVELY pictures – until I got… erg… to the spider. I never saw the snake and I’m not going back to find it. I really am an outdoors kind of gal but I’ll stick with flowers and trees and avoid bugs and snakes at all costs. *cough* That spider really did me in.
