Wee Tiny Sock!

Look at the pretty packaging!  (I’m all about packaging – must be the French part of my ancestry).

Look at that beautiful sock!!!!!  It’s from Alley, a new knitter, a new blogger, and a new friend!  Can you believe she tackled a Wee Tiny Sock for her FIRST sock, and she did it out of EMBROIDERY FLOSS????  Hats off to ya, girl!  Day-ahm, as they say here in the South!  As you can see, she included a pretty card and some springtime stickers I’ll have to hide from my son or he’ll “decorate” my car windows with them!

I tell ya, this is the fanciest sock I own!  Here’s a close-up of the adorable charm she attached:

Love it!  It will have a place of honor on my Wee Tiny Sock Garland which I’ve decided is much more suited for the mantel than the Christmas tree.  Thank you, Alley!

Does anyone else feel a case of Coverlet Fever coming on?  First there was Alicia’s incredible Ripple which resulted in the Ripple-a-long.  Now she’s started a Granny Square afghan which is blowing me away and caused my sister to stick a crochet hook in her eye!  Then Cara started making mitres.  And of course Theresa with the log cabin baby blanket and nine square quilt.  Inspiration, all around.

I’ve been looking at these gorgeous, functional works of art and thinking how nice it would be to have a long term ongoing project like that.  Last night I was thumbing through an old issue of Interweave Knits, and came across this:

Courtesy of this Flickr photo.  I love the idea of having a pattern already made but I think I’d want more color and to use this as a stash-busting opportunity, not that I have all that much stash.   I started looking at quilts on Flickr and am particularly fond of this, this and this.  Especially that last one.  I also think this one is incredibly beautiful, of course it’s a Kaffe Fassett design.  The colors make me drool, but there’s no way I could ever knit it.

That’s where my thoughts are on this beautiful springy day!  I’ve spun all the tamale pie roving and will make chained singles this weekend.  I also plan to get back to work on my Rambling Rose cardi and get that sucker finished!  My here-and-there portable knitting has resulted in one finished sock and the cuff of the second sock.  I hope to finish it before the 31st to meet the Twisted Knitters deadline.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Elizabeth! I’m tickled pink that you like your wee tiny sock. =o) I’m just so glad it finally made it’s way too you and arrived there safely! You are giving me a wee bit more credit than I deserve.. The wee tiny sock is my second sock. Fortunately I did make *a* sock prior to it. My first sock has some mistakes but I learned a whole lot doing it! I’ve love to see this wee tiny garland that you have. I’m definitely going to be making some more of these wee socks. I just ordered my first order of sock yarn today.

Oooh about those coverlets. I’ve been enjoying seeing Cara & her Miters too! (Not that I really know what a miter is, but love it!) The picture you have looks so much like an actual quilt, I’d love to see that one close up and see how it was “knit” that way. Can’t wait to see what you decide to do. =o)

    That sock is adorable!

Good go, it would take me forever to SEW a quilt. I can’t imagine how long it would take me to knit one. It is good lookin’ though.

Cool little sock! There’s absolutely no way I’d have the patience to do that, but I admire those of you who do :)

Sis, regarding the photo usage, I noticed the person who took the photo gave you permission to use her photo, but unfortunately your feeling of it being improper is correct – UNLESS she obtained permission from the mag to take the photo and publish it. Even if she had, it most likely wouldn’t give her the authority to give you permission to use the photo.

I noticed some pics I took for a spray tan tutorial online at Ebay – Some guy in the UK had actually taken my photos and tutorial and put it on DVD to sell! And then got angry because I told him to cease sale of it IMMEDIATELY. Remind me to forward the emails he sent me to you – You’ll crack up at the insanity.
